I feel like I've done this in the past, but it may have been years ago. Will box office staff at the Jacobs accept my pair of tickets bought for a friend and hold them in their name?

Did you mean in advance or on the day of performance?

For me, I normally leave tickets at the box office if the show is about to start and my friends have not arrived yet. Box office will normally give you an envelope and ask you to write his/her name down.

Same as Wick, I've only done it day-of for the same reason. If it's in advance, just.... send them to your friend?

I don't see why not. I've mainly done same day tickets as well but with post-dating they do hold on to old tickets so it shouldn't be a problem for them to find a place for the tickets and get them when your friend comes to see the show. Not sure about the Jacobs but I haven't had an issue with any other theater in similar situations.

Thanks to all for these responses! I need to leave them at the box office today (when I'm in Manhattan) for the performance tomorrow night. I won't see my friend between now and then. Great to hear that the Jacobs, as a Shubert house, will accept and hold them in my friend's name today.

I think it still depends on the theater. A friend of mine wanted to leave tickets for her cousin at Shubert’s Hello Dolly a few days early and was told no. Luckily she found a friend to help out and hold the tickets for her cousin. So I think you need to double check. Good luck.

So, to close the loop:

Today my husband went to the Jacobs box office, and they accepted the tickets to be held for tomorrow night under my friend's name. They were originally bought in person at the box office, months ago...
