Brooke Shields was Donna Murphy's replacement in "Wonderful Town" Does that mean that Brooke Shields could also play Ana in "The King and I"? Or Murphy as Rizzo in "Grease"?

Celia Keenan-Bolger was Clara in The Light in the Piazza before Kelli O'Hara took over.
Kelli played Franca in that production before taking over Clara, and Sarah Uriarte Berry replaced her.
Sarah played Miss Dorothy in the La Jolla production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Could Ceely play Miss Dorothy? (Probably...)
Toni Braxton played Belle in Beauty and the Beast, a role which Susan Egan originated.
Susan replaced Sutton Foster in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Sutton later starred in Little Women.
Could Toni play Jo March?

Andrea Martin played Golde in Fiddler (spelling, I know.) Rosie O'Donnell replaced her. Rosie subbed in as The Cat in the Hat in "Seussical."

Marissa Jaret Winokur played Tracy. Leslie Kritzer has gone on in the role. Leslie originated Pickles in Trailer Park. She was understudied by Tracy Jai Edwards, who played Amber in Hairspray.
so does that mean Marissa could make another return to Hairspray playing Amber...?

Vanessa Williams played the Witch, as did Bernadette. Bernadette played Mama Rose, as did Ethel Merman. Ethel Merman replaced Carol Channing in Hello Dolly.

Sarah Jessica Parker played Princess Winifred, a role originated by Carol Burnett, could Carol play Carrie Bradshaw? ok, that was a bad one...
Brooke Shields replaced Donna Murphy in Wonderful Town, Donna Murphy played Anna in The King and I, and was replaced by Faith Prince. Prince played Ms.Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, a role that Jane Krakowski is doing in London, Krakowski was supposed to star as Charity in the current revival of Sweet Charity. So according to this logic, Brooke Shields is indeed good for the role of Charity.

OK So bear with me- Phylicia Rashad replaced Bernadette Peters in the original production of "Into the Woods." Bernadette was the Mama Rose in Gypsy as was Angela Lansbury. Lansbury replaced Constance Towers in The King and I. Donna Murphy played Anna in the '96 revival. Donna Murphy was the original Fosca in Passion. Could Phylicia Rashad play Fosca in Passion?

Ok so I don't know if this really works, but I just thought of it...
Stephanie J. Block played Liza Minelli in "Boy from Oz" and she also plays Elphaba in Wicked, while Liza's mother played Dorothy in the wizard of oz...so I don't know where that really leads us, but oh well.

Jenifer Laura Thompson was Ariel in Footloose. She replaced Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda. Could Kristin Chenoweth play Ariel?
