Cardiff, Norwich, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh have a Miserables time ahead!

"Following Cardiff in 2010, Les Miserables will visit Manchester (19 January-13 February), Norwich (16 February-20 March), Birmingham (23 March-17 April) and Edinburgh (20 April-15 May) before it heads to The Chatelet in Paris, with further dates to be announced."

How exciting!

Especially with Earl Carpenter as Javert!

This new production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and designed by Matt Kinley, inspired by the works of Victor Hugo and John Napier.
Original costumes are by Andreane Neofitou, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Mick Potter.

Casting for the tour has not yet been announced.

'Les Mis' in general.
I've so overdosed on it since i first saw it at the Barbican in previews.
Ive seen it NY, San Fran, Australia and probably about 20 times in London.
Amazed it can still cause a stir in the regions.
Its toured before and still they want more.

I agree to a degree Mamma-it's been around for what feels like forever, it's toured everywhere and still such fuss.

That said, for those (Like me!) who've so far managed to avoid it I can go and see it close to home without paying out West End prices (or 'wasting' a theatre outing in the West End)
Maybe I'm on nobody's side http://phdconfessions.blogspot.com/

When did Les Mis lat tour the UK?

This is such a small tour and it is not sitting down that long at each venue, I thought this could easily sit down for 3 months at each venue.

It is only playing Cardiff, Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, so suprised it did not play other cities such as Sunderland, Bradford. Southhampton, Bristol and Plymoth.

I thought this show could easily sell out for 3 months and all the additional venues mentioned?

Some time ago now, 17 years, and it sat down in most places for at least 3 or 4 months which at the time was unheard of!

The tour played Manchester in 1992. There is a CD single of the company that played the Opera House that includes the stunning Ria Jones as Fantine.

I was tiny the last time it came to Edinburgh, my mum saw it then with Phil Cavill as Valjean.
I don't think the tour in 2000 or whenever came up here. (I first saw it in Manchester in spring 2000).
Be very interested to see what they are calling revamped or new in terms of the production. While I'm generally up for new ideas in theatre, I get a bit tetchy when it comes to people messing with my precious - even lines have to be delivered a certain way, unless you're Drew Sarich who can do what he likes <3

I'm wondering how many times I can see it in a month. Sad it's not staying for longer, but I think I may live off Tesco Value noodles for a month and just camp out at the Playhouse.

Interesting, I stand correct. I'd have thought the northern Mis-fits of my acquaintance would have been there if it had.
Ah Peter Corry, the man singularly responsible for my habit of storming around in a swoopy coat and pony tail and getting tense around bridges!
Still wish I'd got a programme that first time! No idea who was in itforthe most part.

Don't forget that more dates are to be announced and there is a good chance several of those will be abroad. They will be in Paris for over a month, so they might be doing similar in other countries, and might even return to some more UK venues afterwards.
