findingnamo, nice attempt, but sorry. The point WAS that's why I couldn't really embrace the show was because the style of it wasn't for me. I didn't say the style didn't work for me and that's why it didn't work on broadway - learn how to read. even though I know you were being an ass and referring to what i said before, and next you're probably going to say that you were just being sarcastic. Funny. REally - you're terribly clever. Why don't you suck my cock?

I tried to type that they automatically turned them into *'s. It would have been far more effective.
Anyway, moving on...
I wish I'd seen Caroline, although my only exposure to it was Tonya's performance at the Tonys, which was a bit grating. I know this isn't reflective of her talent, but OY!
Also, now I feel much better about the pitiful attempts at flames aimed at me tonight on another thread. Things are almost as nasty on here. (Misery loves company!)

No it wouldn't have been. Person named after a cat in the world's worst musical: please join RodneyK, Westopher, TRUEBWFan and the late EricMDB at the kiddie's table for cake, pie and ice cream.
Jose, I didn't know you turned your nose up at Caroline. Kidding.

Someone's been flaming you on another thread? Geez, what is it lately? The idiot brigade's all here.
Caroline, or Change is a flawed show- especially some of the recitative and the character of Dottie- but its heights are about as glorious as anything I've ever seen on stage. And even its weak points aren't that awful.
Perhaps if you knew this history of why I chose this name, you wouldn't make such comments. Do you have a learning disability?
and ANYWAY, Tonya's performance at the Tony's wasn't the best - but it was better than Idina shrieking ungodly notes that were rediculously off key - and she took the tony. Tonya's performance in the show is one of the best things I've ever seen in all my years of theatregoing - it's up there with Antonio in NINE, Bernadette in GYPSY, Sally Field in THE GOAT, etc. etc. etc. She's remarkable. The fact that Idina won STILL baffles me.

Well, I didn't want to "name names," but I did get a certain amount of...ahem...criticism from someone for being a stuck up prig about CAROLINE.
Fortunately, for me, I came to my senses.
Los Angelenos...don't miss CAROLINE.
What's a prig?

No seriously, 'strap, I wasn't parodying you or being sarcastic. I meant it. Who cares what you think?
That's my point. OBVIOUSLY people care what I think if i've gotten nasty messages back. I'm still DYING to know what a prig is.
Namo - what does your avatar say? I can't read it! (sorry for the threadjack) I'm halfway blind, I swear.
American-speak for a cross between a ****and a pig? I dunno...your nation's a bundle of confusion to me. As the Daily Mirror said, how can 59 million people be so stupid? But I digress because I don't want to be flamed by a bunch of self-righteous bastards. ::ducks::

I hope I'm not wasting a post. I apologize. I'm still debating on whether or not to go see this. I know my mom won't like it cuz' she never likes anything, and the only songs I really like on the CD are "Moon Trio" and "Lot's Wife". The rest of the show is kinda blah... Yet, I know if I just go see it, I'll probably like it. But is it worth the trip... that's my dilemma...

It's absolutely worth it. I wish I had an opportunity to see it one more time. Please go and enjoy.
At the very least you should see it for Tonya's performance, so people are saying.
And Namo - Thank you! Itwas driving me crazy!

Yes it's worth it. The recording, obviously, is only half the picture. And the only posts that are wastes are mustystrap's.
Go, CATS. You'll enjoy it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who have contributed to this thread. This was the best source of a laugh I've had all day.
BT11, I have no doubt your well wishes will reach those to whom you've sent them. I don't see anything wasted is sending good thoughts to a *stylized* and unique show. The fact at it was stylized and unique was reason enough for me to enjoy and continue savoring this show.
Of course what do I know "...in all my years of theatre going - it's up there with Antonio in NINE, Bernadette in GYPSY, Sally Field in THE GOAT, etc. etc. etc..." My theater going only extends back decades as oppose to the past year and a half. I may not have enough shows under my belt to compare.
But back to the post in the thread. Love the self-deprecation from José, love the exchanges from Namo, and the comments from munkustrap...priceless, simply priceless. You must have made you mother so proud.
I have it on good authority that the producers, even on tours, check these boards religiously. No, I'm not name-dropping. I just had my ass handed to me, is all.
Nice jab at my post above - but I was only citing 3 performances - the 3 that came to my mind that second I didn't sit there and ponder over it. Nice try.
And to FindingNamo - despite the recent bitching between us, I can't help but love your icon. It's so true.

heheh you guys are funny. I loooooovee this show. Toniya, if your reading this...i love you.
YAY!!! One of the best shows I personally have seen. My only hope is that it in some way shape of form will come to ATL so my mother can finally see the show I talk about all the time and hear the music I constantly play.

munk - the definition of prig (as intended by its use here) - one who offends or irritates by observance of proprieties (as of speech or manners) in a pointed manner or to an obnoxious degree. Frankly, I'm surprised you're not familiar with this term - at least the irritable and obnoxious parts.
And we're going to see Caroline here in LA in late December. I'm curious what all the fuss has been about.
