DG- All I can say is, I hope you love it. The people who do get into this show's world get so much out of it. The first time I saw it, my head was spinning when I came out, and I wanted nothing more than to go back in and see it again. There's too much there to absorb in one sitting. Have fun. :)

Seriously, CATS...go, and take your mom. I saw it twice..it took me a little while to warm up to it, but the effect has been more lasting than anything I've seen this year. And that includes my beloved Assassins.

I'm thrilled that most of the original cast will be at the Ahmensen - too big a house for it, really - but conspicuously absent is Harrison Chad. Instead we'll get Sy Adamowsky, his Broadway standby who never went on. Chad was fantastic so it'll be interesting to see someone else in this difficult and crucial role.
Faced with these Loreleis, what man can moralize!

I believe Sy's aunt or some other relative made a big fuss on Tonya's website about Sy not going on. Chad then sat out one performance so Sy could go on.
I wish I could see this; I got the recording too late, and by the time I fell in love with it, it had closed. Anyone who has the chance, I'd recommend seeing it (based on the music).

Besides, I'm delighted that someone I know was willing to experience CAROLINE for a second time, and liked it, instead of letting their first, less than positive, exposure to the work be their only one.
The magic of theatre is its ethereal quality. It lives in fractions of seconds in the life of mankind, and fades away, never to be recaptured, and is never exactly the same, ever again.
CAROLINE will go down and the show that was robbed of the the TONYs in 2004.
And don't forget that Tonya Pinkins, will be in The Allen Room, F. P. Rose Hall, February, 2005, celebrating Harold Arlen. It will be one fabulous night.

I'm seeing it Tuesday, and am very excited about it. What's even more amazing is that for performances before Nov. 24, people on the mailing list got a special code and tickets for any seat in the house are only $40 each. If you want the code and plan to see it before then, let me know, PM me or something and I'll share it with ya. (I'd include the code here now but its sitting in my drawer at work)

I know I'm way late with this, but when I saw that that was the 2nd post, I felt so embarrassed! Rude doesn't begin to describe it. I'm jumping into the fray a tad late, too, but I found munkustrap's statement,
"None of the cast and crew is reading this...why wish them luck - this is a waste of a post", to be confusing...coming as it does from someone who claims to be working eight shows a week, in Bombay Dreams if I've synthesized info dropped in several posts and threads correctly...
If she reads posts here, who is to say someone from Caroline doesn't as well?

Your icon kinda sorta contradicts that. But hey, to each their own. I don't feel the overwhelming need to go bash Dracula in every thread where it's mentioned. And don't forget that your favorite target, Avenue Q, is pretty damn popular in its own right.
Besides, I like Movin' Out. I don't judge shows by their "popularity" factor, whatever the heck that is.

I hope Caroline is received well out in LA. I'm glad to hear that the show is still going although it's not on B-way. I for one LOVED it and hope to see it again if it comes back to the east coast.

PLum, as long as you acknowledge that you're the different one. My icon is a pretty lame comback too. I like Dracula for the wrong reasons actually. Not because I think it's a great piece of theatre but because I am loyal to Frank Wildhorn and I have a facination for horror and the gothic genre. I like CIVIL WAR too and that's not popular. But the majority of the unpopular stuff I do not like.

The point is that you criticized my taste as if mine was inferior to yours. That's a dictatorship. There's no such thing as a supririor tastse. Personal taste is not something that's right or wrong which is why it's called "personal." You are not better than me because you like CAROLINE and I don't.
