I got my shipping notice last week as well. Looking forward to getting the CD in the mail and listening to it. I really loved the off broadway production!

Where did you order it from? I just pre-ordered mine today from Amazon. Didn't feel like paying the $7.98 shipping to get it on Tuesday.

^Most people got their shipping notices yesterday. They ship from NY so if you're in the city it makes sense to get it so quickly. Standard is 3-5 days.

There really isn't much to complain about, except how long we had to wait to get it! If I have to nit-pick, I always like more dialogue so I would have liked it just a tiny bit better if they had recorded a little bit of the interrogation prologue and "name please" at the end to tie it all together. Sue's dialogue that they did record during "You Shine" and the reprise of "Dreamer in Disguise" doesn't really make sense without the interrogation device being present to set it up.

Additional dialogue to set up certain songs like "Unsuspecting Hearts" would have been nice. (Although, for whatever reason, they went ahead and recorded Ms. Gardner's entire prom story for the reprise.) "Dreamer in Disguise" would have been particularly more poignant if they had just included Tommy's reading of the title and "by Tommy Ross" so that those listeners who haven't seen the show would now for certain that he's actually reading a poem he wrote.

Ultimately though -- who cares? The rest of it is fu@k!ng brilliant. I know Marin Mazzie was sick for part of the run and she had her off nights, but she's wonderful on the recording. I feel like she manages a perfect balance of head and chest voice throughout. She gives it to us good when the emotion calls for it, and when it doesn't she withdraws and relies on subtleties. Both Marin and Molly are at their best during "I Remember How Those Boys Could Dance," and it's really one of, if not the best, track on the CD. I also think Derek Klena stands out more here than he did in the show. He's in perfect voice here on the recording, and the clarity of his voice really struck me during his solo moments.

Maybe I'm just blinded because it's all shiny and new right now, but it's pretty much a perfect cast recording. To me, it's right up there with the all-time best. I'm not suggesting the writing is as good as some of those classic cast recordings on my list. Carrie will always have its flaws, but in terms of the performances, the quality, and the overall listening experience, this is on another level. Kudos to everyone involved for producing a cast recording to be truly proud of.

Received mine today! I'm very pleased this finally got a cast recording, it sounds wonderful.
