Ron Bohmer & Christiane Noll are the big names in a huge musical. I feel like we're back in the 90's! I love it!

Was it ever confirmed that Leigh Ann wouldn't be doing the transfer?
It wasn't confirmed, but it's been known that she'll be playing Petra in Night Music.
And since when is Christiane Noll a big name?
"The 28-piece orchestra will be led by musical director James Moore. William David Brohn's Tony-winning orchestrations will be heard."
Praise the musical theater Gods!
I'm obsessed with Ron Bohmer's voice! Last time I saw him in anything was at North Shore Music Theatre last fall. This is SO exciting!

My reason to see this would be to see Christiana Noll. Love her CD"s, have seen her in quite a few shows and am thrilled for her to be back on Broadway. I just wish it were something else as I didn't care for Ragtime when I saw it previously. It is one of the few shows during which I have fallen asleep. The one thing I remember is waking up at the gunshot. Any time that the show comes up in conversation with friends that is also the one memory they have. I know many people love the show and there are different tastes but this one isn't for me.
wdwfreak, have you read anyone's opinions on this show when it was at the Kennedy Center? I ask, because there were a couple of threads about it.
I saw the production 9 times in DC and absolutely loved it and plan on seeing it on Broadway, too.

Oh sweet- Wallace Smith (ensemble) was an awesome Simba! Glad he's working!
Besides Christiane Noll: who? who? and who?
I see there are some new ensemble people in the show.
So glad to see Quentin Earl Darrington is going to reprise Colehouse on Broadway! He was excellent in the role.

I love the casting of Christiane Noll as Mother. She has a strong upper register as well as being able to belt.
Awwwwwww....I went to school with Terence Archie!
I wish them the best. I fear they're going to need some luck to find their audience.
Interesting that some of the same people who complain about stunt casting are the same ones whining that there are no "big names" in this production.
I don't want big names I just want people I've heard of. In general.

I wasn't overwhelmed by the original production, although I generally liked the score and was impressed with most of the cast. To me, the show sprawled all over the place and I wasn't planning on going to the revival. HOWEVER, that being said, my mind was quickly changed by learning that Bobby Steggert will be playing Mother's Younger Brother. I take it he was in the Washington production -- anyone who saw it have any comments about his performance?

I'm ecstatic that the core of the Kennedy Center production has made it through the transfer. I could quibble with some of those that made the transfer, but the standouts made it through: Christiane Noll who was amazing, Ron Bohmer, Bobby Steggert, Donna, as well as Eric Jordan Young who blasts out on stage and just WAS Booker T. Washington. Interesting that the kids made the transfer, not because they were bad, but simply because they probably could have found kids in NYC who would have done as well.

Agreed - but it is Christiane Noll, so I may have to venture over to see it.
Ed, Bobby Steggert was wonderful as Mother's Younger Brother. He and his fellow cast members in DC were first rate. I didn't see a weak link in the bunch. I wasn't too thrilled when Christiane Noll was announced for the DC production, but her performance totally won me over and blew me away. Never in my 30 years of theatre going have I seen a show 9 times in a 4 week period (with the exception of when I worked at the original Broadway production of Les Miz).

Bobby really goes at it as brother. When he rips into Father as being completely oblivious, its a really powerful thing.

In my opinion, Steggert was the strongest cast member in a very strong cast. I never cared at all for the character of Mother's Younger Brother-- he always irritated me at best and creeped me out at worst-- but in this production, he was the character I connected to the most. And his voice gave me shivers!
I'm so glad to see that Darrington and Bohmer are making the transfer- they were both excellent. I'm excited to see Tracy Lynn Olivera transferring to Broadway, too, although her part is tiny. She's been wonderful in so many DC stage productions. But I'm still slightly disappointed about Donna Migliaccio... her lisp really distracted me from her performance.
