re: Casting for Little Mermaid

To be honest, I would be most happy I think with Kelli O'Hara as Ariel. I know she's a bit older, but I think her voice, and who she is would be perfect.

and p.s. I love the Little Mermaid more than anything, but why do we have like 213 threads on this same topic?

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

NathanLaneStalker- You should be the LAST one to talk.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

LOL

but yeah Kelli would be great if she was younger. If Sutton can't do it Mara Davi, Chryssie Whitehead, Heather Parcells, or Jessica Lee Goldyn (all from ACL) would be great as well.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

Mara Davi would be good, too.

Kevin Kern as Eric?

Matthew Morrison has to be Eric, or Aaron Lazar. Megan Hilty would be great as Ariel I think.

I agree with the first three, but I don't think the girl that plays Val has the voice for Ariel...

I'd pay to see Sutton, if she chooses to do it
"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." The Nanny Diaries

Sara Ramirez would be an AMAZING Ursula but she has run off to Hollywood and I highly doubt we shall be seeing her for quite some time...

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

How about Rene Aubojonois as the chef re: Casting for Little Mermaid
I actually think that would be amazing, bring him on as a special feature, as he was in the original movie.

Boston Legal can spare him for half a season or so, not like he does much there anyways.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

OMG! I just had a brainstorm. In a fat suit or something and a lot of prosthetics, JANICE DICKINSON as Ursula!!! = )

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

I was on Heather Parcells' website and she had sound clips of her singing, she was actually really good. And Jessica is and amazing belter on the ACL recording. Never really heard Chryssie solo, though, except in "Sing!" but that's not really a song she can showcase her range in or anything...

= )

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

Chryssie sings at least one line solo on Carols for a Cure (at least, she did on Good Morning America on Christmas). She has a good voice, but she doesn't suit the role AT ALL.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

i know you guys will think im crazy but i was watching gilmore girls...and the woman who plays miss patti would be hilarious as ursula...her deep voice, her comic skills, and the way she flirts with all the men (delusional just like ursuala!) seemed perfect...maybe she can sing hahah! she looks and acts perfect for the role...not to mention miss patti used to be on broadway so maybe cshe can sing! haha alexis bledel would make a cute ariel now that i think about it hahah just a way to think about the roles...i would kill myself if they were cast!

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

I am slowly but surely easing myself into accepting Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula. Sure, she's not the first person (Or second... or third...) person you think of to play Ursula, and definitely doesn't sound ANYTHING like the fabulous Pat Carroll, but I think it would be refreshingly different. Sure, it definitely won't please the Disney purists, but all of those who have an appreciation for varying performers I believe will enjoy it.

And I am a HUGE fan of Sutton Foster, but for some reason I just can't see her as Ariel... I can almost see her as Ursula...

I am definitely on the Wayne Brady for Sebastian bandwagon!

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

My friend Jen Temen is in the final callbacks for Ariel. I don't know why. She is NOT an Ariel, she knows that. She'll probably be Elle Woods in the tour of Legally Blonde instead.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

I would love to see Kelli O'Hara as Ariel.

re: Casting for Little Mermaid

Ursula has to look like an overweight drag queen with a raspy voice. That does not fir Sutton or Sherie Rene Scott. Sherie could play Ariel!

PS: I missed the GMA thing w/ Carols for a Cure! is it on YouTube?
