Ursula does not have to be a carbon copy as it is in the movie you know. I think it would be cool to see like Vanessa Williams or Sherrie in the role. What theatre would it fit in? I think it would fit nicely in the winter garden

make it different and more apealing. And why is it in your favorite shows, when it hasn't even opened nor have a cast?

Ursula has to look like an overweight drag queen with a raspy voice.

After seeing her at Town Hall - there is no debate. Emily Skinner owns Ursula.
Just listen to the live cd.

I agree with Harvey as Urusla.
I thought Ariel was supposed to be like, 16.
But anyway...I think a lot of people would be good for Ariel but Sutton would be my favorite.
And hahaha marypopsfan! is on the boards, still.
How is your happy trail?

I kinda like the idea of Vanessa Williams. In the same sense that the Witch has to glam up in Into the Woods, so does Ursula. In addition, her voice has that sultry quality-she does seduce Ariel into giving up her voice and tail :).
Ariel needs to be someone fresh. I know people have been arguing non stop over miss Kerry Butler's age on all of these TLM threads... but I think the inherent issue is not her age, but rather the fact that she is not as fresh as a newcomer would be. We've seen her before. She's great, but Ariel needs naivety, something that Kerry cant bring to the role (at least in my opinion).
Ok. now that I've given my two cents....please continue!!

Here's my opinion
Ariel-Celia Keenan-Bolger
Eric-Anyone who has played Fiyero in "Wicked" or Link in Hairspray
King Triton-James Naughton
Ursula-Ana Gasteyer or Emily Skinner or Katlin Hopkins or Patti LuPone
Sebastian-Derrick Williams or Chester Gregory II
Scuttle-Micheal McGrath
Vanessa-A newcomer
Also what about the idea of making Ursula King Triton's estranged sister. I kinda like that idea which was what they wanted to explain in the movie. And it says on Playbill Jobs that they were doing that.

lol.
if you listen to the demo lyrics (which i have been) ursula mentions quite a few times how shes lost weight.
so me thinks the skinny ursula will be easily pulled off on the stage.
and not as some stoogey puppet as others mentioned.
