re: Casting for a furture Movie of Les Miz

Honey, does your life revolve around dream movie/tv musical casts or what?

It is future, not furture

Urgh... I love Colm to death but he's very old now. That's fine for later on, but when Jean Valjean first gets out of the chain gang he is in his 40's. They would have to seriously work hard to make him look that young.

My nomination: Randal Keith! He is amazing.

And... Idina as Fantine? Emmy Rossum as Eponine? Oh dear God...

IDINA AS FANTINE?????????????????!!!!!!!!!

I could hardly see Renee Zellwegger as Madame T.

I like Randal Keith much better than Colm. Colm has a sort of husky western voice kinda thing going on that I don't like all that much.

Making a movie of Les Miz (again) might not work out. I wasn't too happy with the POTO movie, and I'm worried that this movie won't turn out as most think it should.

My Fair Lady: Agreed. It's like they just took Phantom's cast and transferred it over. They can't be too knowledgable on Broadway, or else they'd know better.

I didn't like ANY of the Eponine choices. Not even Lea Salonga; I'd take her, but personally I don't like her portrayal.

Some of the casting choices would work as far as the Hollywood people go, provided that they'd dub it. Which I doubt they would.

24601: I also feel that a Les Mis movie is a scary thought. Scary because we all know what they tend to do with musical movies.

And, yes, I love Colm but Randal Keith was just... wow. I always disliked Bring Him Home, but when he performed it I actually cried, and now I actually love the song. He also has the physical build for Valjean; he looks strong enough to lift a cart.

I personally only like Colm Wilkinson, though that would have to materialize quickly for him to work still. Lea Salonga's Eponine is by far the most intriguing and my personal favorite, but I've never seen why whenever there is ethnic casting in Les Miz, it's that Eponine is Asian. Usually, the Thenardiers aren't, and they're her parents. What, are they recessively Asian?

Tim Curry as Thenardier? Interesting, but...

If they did use Randal Keith, that would be great, too. But do any of us think they will - unless Cam Mak controls the film, and even then, he'll probably go after Colm harder.

This isn't for real. It is all hypothetical which makes this thread even more frightening.

Yeah, you're right; they probably would go for Colm. Sigh.

As for Lea, I love her but I just don't see her as Eponine. My favorite Eponine thus far has been Kaho Shimada.

At least Christy Carlson-Romano is good... at least, she was in "Parade," anyway.

I picked Jennifer Ellison as Eponine because she sounds like Frances Ruffele the oringnal Eponine in London and Broadway. I also picked Josh Groban as Marius because he has a strong voice. And for Cosette I picked Christy Carlson Romano because I heard her song "Could It Be" and who knows she might surprise us.
