Matt Hydzik on for Tony, Haley Carlucci on for Maria tonight. I almost bought a ticket when I walked by and saw the board tonight, but I did not. Would love to hear reviews from those who were there!
Will he be out tomorrow? Either or both shows?
How long has it been open & they are already missing performances?
He and Karen Olivo were both out Sunday. I figured they both got Easter Sunday off. Scaglione went on though.

The Merm never took off for Easter!

Maybe they wanted to see themselves on DWTS.
Olivo was out of ITH on Easter last year.
Not sure if its a coincidence...but...
Karen Olivo was probably out to pretape the DWTS segment/performance.

And they were both fabulous. Hydzik especially - I can't say enough good things about his performance.

I'd love to know how Olivo's understudy is.

Everyone I know who has seen him go on has *raved* about him- I'm kinda looking forward to Cavenaugh's eventual vacation (August honeymoon?), so that I can actually plan ahead to see Hydzik.

Same here. I saw the show in DC and the only thing that would get met to see it a second time is Hydzik.
Is Matt H going today?
I guess I'll throw in my dissenting opinion here, but I saw the matinee performance the day before the show opened, and saw Hydzik. He had a very pleasant voice, and it may be the direction, or the production itself, but his acting seemed to be too one-note, and on the same level. There was not a large depth to his emotions throughout the entire piece. He gave the same emotion when talking to Doc who tells him that Maria is "dead," as when he was talking to Riff at the beginning of Act I.
What also might be a fault of the production itself, was the chemistry between him and Maria. It felt like one of those "let's go on a date to the movies and see where it goes" instead of true love at first sight that truly cannot be explained.
Whats up with the afternoon show today?
Trish2, The only thing I ever see you post is about how bad Karen is. We understand you hate her performance and you can stop. Have you ever thought of looking at the positives of her performance? Her voice? Her acting?
They should all be ashamed for missing so early in the run.

They should not be ashamed of anything. If they are sick, they SHOULD be missing and conserving their energy so that their sickness won't hit all at once after ignoring it and put them out for even more performances.
CurtainPullDowner, we don't know why they are out of the show. And, it's none of our business. It could be anyone of a number of reasons......a prearranged gig/or conflict, a sick day, a personal day, a vacation day, etc..
