After the evening performance of Gypsy last night I was listening to the orchestra as everyone filed out of the theater. As I was walking to the side of the theater towards the exit, I noticed Hayle Mills walking with two other men. I'm not one to be speechless but it was Hayley Mills! I just said excuse me, she turned around for a moment, smiled and continued on her way. She was just as beautiful as ever!
Who's Hayle Mills? I've heard of Hayley Mills -- but never of a Hayle Mills. Is this the same person?
Why was she at GYPSY? Is she replacing Patti LuPone which is why she was at the show?
As reported on another posting, I guess Julia Roberts attended Gypsy yesterday.

When I went a couple of weeks ago, Elliot Gould was there.
How in Christ did you recognize Hayley Mills?
Hayley Mills' singing voice in the recent National Tour of THE KING AND I. I'm still speechless over it.
Someone said Bernadette Peters was there, but I doubt it.
I was there and didn't see anyone. heh
I LOVE HAYLEY MILLS!!!! Awww I'm so happy she was there. I'm sure she loved it.
That was a very substantial contribution to the thread, but it had to be said.

I have no idea! It was one of those weird things where I just made eye contact with her and knew it was her. Odd but exciting! Thanks for the spelling correction Brody.
And I thought about it on the ride home and the only reason I can think of her being at Gypsy besides enjoying a night out at the theater is that the real Gypsy Rose Lee made a guest appearance in "Trouble With Angels" as the Dance Instructor.

Hayley Mills is just one of those classic actors that can make a comeback anytime they want. I would love to see her in something in the future (Broadway, of course).

And 12 years on, i am still trying to get over it as well. Who thought to cast her as Anna should never be allowed to inside a theatre again. You can still see the scuff marks on the wall at the State theatre in Melbourne as people tired to escape the horror!
