Seriously! Make that ITW movie!
He wanted to write Carnival! It would have been spectacular!! (not that the version for the stage is bad or anything.)
LimelightMike- VERY smooth.

The Into the Woods stuff is explained in detail on Wikipedia. This chat was lame because almost all of the answers to these questions can be found easily online. The moderator was awful.
Since CARNIVAL! is now almost 50 years old, what is to stop Sondheim from doing hos own new adaptation of LILI?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
nvm. i missed the chat/question that you guys were referring to.
pardon my ignorance
I MUST know who is the star attached to the FOLLIES movie. I am soooo excited that it is happening.
And yes, he need to write a show for Donna Murphy, please!
As weird as this sounds, I was really eager to see his voice in action as he typed. You know, how does a guy who writes such insightful stuff talk/type casually? He's such a language guy- self professed and demonstrated in his shows- seeing his understanding and mastery of the English language in action in an informal setting was way cool.
I thought that most of the questions (other than our BWW own, of course) were terribly lame. I submitted two questions - I asked about BOUNCE, and which three characters of his Sondheim would invite to dinner. Would have loved a response to something out of left field, just to see how Sondheim's mind works. What other composer cites Delmore Schwartz? Amazing man, just amazing.
