Looking to buy cheap orchestra tickets for Phantom at the end of July. Where would you go to get them? Would you wait till the day of and just go to the b.o.?
There's such a thing as cheap Phantom tickets? HA what a laugh.
In all seriousness, most of the orch. tickets to Phantom are full price, no matter what outlet you go from; Andrew Lloyd Webber is probably the only composer on Broadway whose shows don't offer any sort of discount or special offer.
You can try to go to the box office for a day of show, but that might be a little precarious; I did that when I was in the city for a day trip earlier this week, and the best I could find was the rear of the mezzanine.

Phantom is usually at TKTS from 30-50% off.
Playbill also has a discount on Phantom, though it's only through July 3. I'm willing to bet that there will be a new one when that one is up. I used that code back in October and was in Row A, front mezz. I was off to the side, but I had also bought the ticket only two days before the performance.
John Cudia is an INCREDIBLE Phantom. Saw him on the national tour a few years ago and saw him on Broadway as well as having seen Howard McGillian. I thought Cudia was better than Howard, who had been with the show for years.
I think the reason there are no cheap seats to Phantom is that it wants to keep running, and it's running costs can't be too low I'd imagine. Luckily there's still a slew of people who pay the full full price to see it where enough discounts are out.
Phantom is often on BroadwayBox. Put away your scoffing, Andante.
Apologies, LC.
To answer your question, phantomvegas, John Cudia is quite a good Phantom. I saw him for the first time on Wednesday and, having seen his Raoul, was impressed with his potrayal.
if u have an account, tdf.org
The last row of the mezz is 26.50 and it was one of the 1st Broadway shows to offer lower prices...
I sat in the front row of the center orchestra for $60 back in February. Check broadwaybox.com.

Cape Whirl of Doom Doom Doom, TKTS on the week of the show? Or does it have to be day of?

TKTS is always day of. With the exception of matinees available at Seaport or Brooklyn the day before.

Andante, what are you talking about?
Discount codes are offered many times throughout the year. Monday-Thursday, the last two rows of the Mezzanine are priced at $26.50 (as noted above). Although I think the Orchestra level could have a more varied price range, the Mezzanine is filled with different prices, and the can be quite the bargain (those two rows provide awesome views, some of the best ever).
