I read on Playbill.com that on October 22, Kristen was in a neck brace resulting from an injury sustained last summer. Anyone know about this? What happened to her?
she hurt herself during the summer run and again now..i saw the show tonight and she had on a be-dazzled brace. There was a slip in the playbill saying how she will have to wear the brace for a little bit but feels no pain and didnt wish to miss performances...The show was TO DIE FOR...i will write a review tomorrow but this show is this years tony winner for best musical.
I totally agree...she was in the brace this week also but was out of it today when I saw her. Maybe she hurt it dancing or something???

how did she hurt herself in the show?? what is she doing for this to have happen 2 times??
The same insert was in my SF Playbill when I saw Wicked. I liked her bejeweled neck brace. After a while I forgot it wasn't part of her regular costume! I guess I enjoyed her performance in the show so much, I stopped noticing it.
i just wanted to add since so much legally blonde talk has been going on...her character was definately ELLE WOODS in this show.

From what I understand, during rehearsals in San Fransisco a lighting tree fell over and it, or something on it, hit her.
Nice to read the post by Amneris. It'll be great to read a full review with positives, since this show is getting trashed pretty badly at a certain other website. To me, it's a bit startling, considering how imaginative and emotionally satisfying the piece/production are. This is a homegrown American original -- you don't even have to love Wizard of Oz to fall for this show. It delivers old fashioned values -- comedy, warm feeling, even earned tears. People nitpick about the plot turns, but they deliver real thrills and engender gasps from the audience. And it's contemporary -- how many NEW, non-revivals sustain humor without cheap-shot cynicism, and send you out happy? Even if they have quibbles, I hope the critics see it as the much-needed charge of musical comedy energy that it truly is.
This show is amazing! I saw it October 16th and I must say that they should just hand the Tony to Idina right now. Kristen is very funny and great in the show, but she doesn't hold a candle to Idina's portrayal of Ephelba. The music is good even though some have posted that the score is weak. I did enjoy it and the belting is to die for. I would like to see Idina get the final bow or at least something clever in the curtain call to recognize both of them. Let's face it, the show is called "Wicked," not "Good." Kristen should let Idina bow last.

I just wanted to say that Kristen is amazing. She came in to one of my acting classes at college and talked with us. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is very talented and gave us a lot of good information about theater. She even gave all of us tickets to her show, which I have to say was amazing!! If you have the chance to see her-GO!!! It is AWESOME!

I understand the strong sentiment, voiced here and elsewhere, that idina get a solo bow at the end. Though it's justified in terms of the story's overall arc, the creators have fashioned a show that develops and utlimately celebrates a unique friendship between two women. If Idina has the stronger musical numbers, the two ladies together share the emotional "weight" of the material. I won't spoil the end, but the last 3rd of the 2nd act really does show the ways both characters change. It ends up with a SIDE SHOW like balance. ("For Good" even has some of the feel of "I Will Never Leave You." Anyone else agree?) When's the last time you saw a show with such rich material for two women? Maybe it was SS. It's classy of these two next-generation divas to come out together, and I think, ultimately, it may be more moving for the audience to see them there together.

This show is an interesting example of the power of the Tony. Kristen has won, Idina has not. You will notice in the advertisement that Kristen's name is first, but Idina's is placed higher. I bet it would be different had Idina won or Kristen lost.
Kristen and Idina take the bow together at the end of the show.
Kristin's injury happened during the SF run. A lighting tree fell on her in rehearsal.

We lighting designers need to be more careful!
thankfully she wasnt injured worse. Did anyone see Melissa Bell Chait when she went on in SF? How many performances did she play? I adore her husband Marcus. I feel bad that he got a rough break with Urban Cowboy.. he could actually u/s norberts part. When i walked into the theatre actually, right under melissa i think or kristin i saw MARCUS CHOI and at first thought it said chait lol... im a loser.

And to answer the question about why she keeps getting hurt...she probably just re-injured her neck from the same injury.
Oh my gosh...well I guess you can't sue your own show. lol

to actorgae- you said that kristin should let idina take the last bow......just to clarify it isn't kristin's choice, the director chooses who bows in what order. it isn't kristin who isn't letting idina bow last at all. besides, i agree with the person that says it makes an impact to see them together. i saw the second preview and it is their relationship and how each of them change because of the other that is so great. it is only fitting that they come out together. To argue about who has the bigger role is petty. they were both outstanding, take my word for it

Not to disillusion you JCR, but sometimes the order of curtain calls (as well as placement of names on the marque, and in publicity, etc.) are determined as part of the actor's contract.
And this isn't just limited to the leads. I have a friend who went into a touring production of a show in a role that had the third from last bow in the B'way production. But because there were others in the tour - although in smaller roles - that had been in the Original Broadway production - their agents got them higher placement in the curtain call bows.
Having said that... if the two roles are comparable in size and/or value to the show, having Kristen and Idina take their final bows together makes sense. For audiences who want to give a standing ovation to the show, seeing the two of them come out together would sure be a good moment to do that! ![]()
I can't wait to see WICKED. I've got a ticket for November 11th - 8th row.
I think they both have the same amount in the show. They deserve to bow together.

I agree. It shows their great relationship and shows that one or the other is not so greedy for the last bow.
they were equally incredible and i also agree... 1 bow is quite enough for these 2 ladies..plus they are each humble enough to honor eachother...they each had their arms pointing towards one another. bravo again for a wonderful performance.
