Hey everyone. This is my first post on here, so first Hi!
I saw Wicked last night Kristen and Idinal were both amazing. Kristen was still wearing a neck brace, but she joked about it on stage. In the playbill, is said she was fine, and wearing it to prevent re-injuring herself. She seemed like she wasn't doing head and neck movements to 100%, but she was definitely 100% into the show.

They were both amazing!

JCR279 is right -- this show is about what the Mantello himself dubs "two halves..." of a whole. (Another SIDE SHOW allusion.) One more point worth remembering, to those who argue it's Idina's show: Chenoweth has been involved since the earliest workshop. She was instrumental in shaping the show to be about the relationship between the women. At another site, there's a heated debate about Glinda being "supporting" to Elphaba. But study the plot of the show (no spoilers here) ... these two women impact on each other. And it's not giving anything away to say that at the very top of the show, Glinda is a bigger than life semi-political figure in Oz, who arrives post-melting to address her people. She also opens the 2nd act, also Evita-like, to make this point. Glinda rises from college girl to leader-slash-good witch. The show makes a case, compellingly, that one witch's "career" wouldn't happen without the other's. One big plot point, without giving too much away, involves the degree to which Glinda "owns" her friendship with Elphaba. The writers have done a masterful job of plotting both characters' arcs, and by the end, they are intertwined, their lives forever linked. The song "For Good" ultimately seals the deal in emotional terms. It's going to be interesting to see how critics respond. Maybe as a society we're not comfortable seeing a show that is so celebratory of the relationship between women. It's great the two actresses know what a special chemistry they -- and the characters -- have. (Some of these points are discussed in the 10/26/03 Arts and Leisure section of the Times, by the way, with great photos of Kristin and Idina.)

I agree. The Kristen's part is in no way "supporting". The roles are very equal as intended.

I agree completely. I don't think either part is a supporting role. As the NYTimes article indicates, they both feel they are playing starring roles, opposite each-other. It discusses the difficulties and differences in playing opposite another female lead, rather a male lead.
