When Cher was talking of doing the television movie there was a suggestion of Bette playing Vera. Wouldn't work due to the relationship those two hve now or at least did at the time. It would have been interesting. I get visions of drag queens across the country having Mame viewing parties...lol.
Of the suggestions, I think the Megan Mullally suggestion woul be perfect.

So here we are a year later.
Is this project dead or what?

This joins a long line of shelved TV/film projects. Remember Reba was supposed to be in a TV Movie of Annie Get Your Gun, and Hunchback was rewritten for television. Movie-musicals seem to come and go on television and at the theatre. With the potential theatrical and DVD hits of Dreamgirls and Hairspray, things maybe looking better. Disney has been the biggest disappointment with TV musicals. Geppetto, South Pathetic and Once Upon a Mattress were atrocities.
I wish Cher would do something, heck even Sweeny would be interesting. I wonder what her British accent sounds like. Oh and by the way, most hit shows are optioned by some studio for some later project. I wish Showtime would do Batboy. Maybe some day HBO will get into the business. I remember watching Little Shop countless times on HBO many many years and falling in love with it.

Cher has just ruined her face with plastic surgery. It would be very difficult to cast her in anything for film, she just doesn't look natural. Its a shame because she really was a good actress. I don't think she would ever have worked as Mame though...

I agree, she is a good actress. Actually, pretty amazing. Maybe she can star the in the First Wives Club musical?

Posted: 9/11/06 at 2:00pmCher doesn't look that weird to me. There are worse examples of celebrity plastic surgery out there. I miss her old, practically Native American-esque look, but she looks okay to me still, especially when her hair is dark.

If you ask me, which you didn't, Cher has has some better plastic surgery to make the old plastic surgery look better.
The project is dead. Cher is apparently working on a film called In the Pink according to IMDB. Not sure if I buy that, though.
Guess which screen name above was mine for about two weeks! lol Someone decided she would never be taken seriously on this site with a certain show title in her name.
