Chicago Glinda Injured During "Popular"

I'm surprised this wasn't posted - but since it's WICKED related, I probably just missed it.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Ouch. Hope she gets better soon.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

LoL, Hook. I like your reaction almost more than the post. this is why I'll never do Wicked - I might get killed. it's like a curse.

And this show is cursed, isn't it?

Chenoweth gets a neckbrace.
Idina falls through a trap door.
Joel Grey leaves for medical reasons.
(Did Butz leave due to injury/illness?)
and now Reinder.

Norbert Leo Butz had a leave for a back injury, I think, not too long into the Broadway run. I don't know if it was caused by the show, though.

Butz injured his back shortly after the show opened on Broadway and was out for 3 months. Taye Diggs played Fiyero while Butz was on medical leave.

My, my, my. I hope she's okay.

As for the Wicked curse... Maybe it's the curse of Margaret Hamilton, who wanted to keep her character evil.

Just kidding about the curse. I hope Kate is okay. She was great in Gypsy.

How does a person get injured in a "sit down" production? Did she lean too far back in her chair? re: Chicago Glinda Injured During 'Popular'

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I heard about this several days ago. Here's to a speedy recovery...may you be back in the bubble again soon!

"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

Injuries:

-Cheno and the Neck Brace.
-Norbert out for 3 months due to back injury (Kristoffer Cussick filled in for the first month and a half and Taye Diggs for the second month and a half.)
-Idina's infamous fall on 1/8/05
-Steph's injury during the Tour dress rehearsel before opening night
-Sho getting caught in a trap door (no real injury but it happened..)
-Sho falling off the stage
-Kate breaking her foot

And the list goes on... It really is eery. And didnt something happen to Chris Fitzgerald (original Boq) also? Because he left and Randy Harrison played Boq for about a month and then Chris came back...
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Was anyone at the performance? I wonder what she did....

re: Chicago Glinda Injured During 'Popular'

Just don't cast Christina Applegate as Glinda.

I remember Norbert saying he'd get hurt all the time during the Fiyero-swings-in-on-a-rope scene.

re: Chicago Glinda Injured During 'Popular'

Anyone know why Sara Jean Ford won't be alternating with Sarah Jane? I thought both were understudies. I hope Kate gets better soon.

re: Chicago Glinda Injured During 'Popular'

Because having to remember if Sarah Jane or Sarah Jean is on on a constant basis will send the stage managers to an early grave.

What is this about Sho falling into the Orchastra pit?
