OMG!! I'm so excited, can you imagine the stage door for this show?!
AAO -- what is your statement about this being a totally new show based on? I certainly hope it's true, but I seriously doubt it because C&ATJ was basically what Dancer's Life claims to be.
Who cares if they're similar?
CHITA IS BACK ON BWAY! Yay. :-d

Well I agree! I'm glad Chita is back...soon anyway. But since AAO was so definitive in declaring that the two shows have nothing to do with one another, I'd like to know how he knows this.
. . . and, actually, I CARE if they are the same show, because Chita needs something better . . . After we saw the show, we thought it would never sell on Broadway.

Well the truth is yes, that show I saw in Stamford would not do well on Broadway and it was a problem with the whole concept. Chita Rivera could not have been better, but she definitely should not be saying Maria's lines, no matter how they rework the monologue.

For someone like myself, who hasn't had the chance to see Chita live. I will take anything. She can walk on the stage for a second, and walk off - and I will be thrilled. This is someone I've been wanting to see live for a long time, and performing the songs from classic musicals that I love - will be great.
ljay -- Well, it played in Atlantic City . . . it would have been less expensive there.
Chita -- 100% on the mark. I was blown away by what she did with the material, particularly keeping up with the hot male dancers; however, no one needs to hear Anita retell WSS in Reader's Digest format.
Which Casino did it play at? Because I think my uncle met her - because he's security guard.
I can't remember . . . I just remember hearing the word in '97 that it was coming to Broadway and some time after that I saw it was playing in AC, which didn't seem like a good sign to me.

OK boys and girls!!! and those boyz who are girls! Let me start by saying wait till the show opens and stop wondering what it's gonna be. In the meantime let me put your fears to rest and answer a couple of questions. NO Sebastian is not in the show, sorry to dissapoint you boyz!!! The show is NOT Chita & all that jazz or any version of it. This is a brand new book show written by Terrence McNally and with new music and songs by the Ahrens-Flaherty team. Graciela Daniele is directing. There are numbers recreated from the most known shows and some not so well known. It is a journey of Chita and The dancer's life. I hope this bit of info satisfies all your intriguing minds. And remember, "good things come to those who wait". Peace!!

Resorts, was the casino.
Yep. That's where my uncle works. He's lucky he met her.
Hanna from Hamburg: reply to your question:
Chita @ all that Jazz orginated during the creation of Chicago-when Fosse had a heart attack.,,kander & ebb wrote a couple of songs so Chita could work and do a cabaret act while Fosse recovered and Chicago came back.. years later chita added to this act and it evolved into C&ATJ.. .
this new show was written (book) by terrency mcnally based on a series of interviews given by chita...mcnally insisted chita performed it...musical numbers are (of course) interpolated into the show..
IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEATER, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT MR.MCNALLY DOES NOT WRITE CABARET SHOWS...
HAVING SAID THAT, I ENJOYED CHITA & ALL THAT jAZZ VERY MUCH,,,
BUT THIS NEW MUSICAL, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT..
^ Thank you - for clearing those things up. I believe your info.
You seem to know a lot. Do you know which shows Chita will DEFINITELY include in this new one?
She can move. I saw her in Nine with Antonio Banderas. She is a legend.

well some of us know a little about theatre but thank you for the mini-lesson. I particularly liked the bit about how Terence McNally is not a book writer for cabaret acts. Thank you, AAO26.
I'm envisioning BWW night at Chita's show. How much fun would *that* be !?!
