I am confused though. Will Chita be performing in this? Or is it just an ensemble recreating her famous works?

Good for her...Chita is a legend! Can't wait to see it!
I'm glad that this is finally coming to fruition. Nothing like seeing Chita live!!!
she IS performing in it in San Diego at the Old Globe this summer.....
This should be great. It's been my dream to see Chita live.

Chita is brillaint. Hope is comes to London. I should imagine itll open up at The Plymouth, its empty since Brooklyn!
Yes, Chita performs, dances her butt off.
San Diego will be Sept. 10 to Oct. 23.
All you San Diegans better get yourselves out there to The Old Globe. It will be a great show.

You can't be serious. Did you see her in Nine? She can still huff it with the best of them.
I am cathing it on gay pride weekend. What fun!
san diegos gay pride was not in June?

Chita can still dance circles around 99% of the dancers half her age.
I believe San Diegos gay pride is in September. I have to check.
Oh Mr. Muscles,
Why are the pretty ones so dumb... You might as well say you hate gay men, because that's just as bad as saying you hate Chita Rivera! We're the same age, but obviouslly, you have alot to learn...
Good news indeed
Why would Muscle say that? I'm only a teen - but this is the most thrilling news I've heard in a while. I missed Chita in Nine, and now I finally have a chance again to see her. The best part is that I can see her perform some of my favorite classic numbers from shows like Chicago, West Side Story, and Bye Bye Birdie. It's so exciting for me that I will now be able to see her belt out the ending to "All That Jazz" Live! I wish she could do some Charity numbers, but she only played Charity on tour, so I don't know if it was such a big deal in her career.
I have a question though. I'm not sure if anyone knows yet. Will this show be more than a revue? From what the articles are saying - the show will basically take you through Chita's life, and it will include some of her famous musical numbers? So I would imagine it will be like a standard book musical, but with songs we've already heard?
So this will be able to be nominated for Best Musical? That's pretty cool.

It sounds like it'll be much more of a "Special Event" show than anything that would be eligible for Best Musical.
Sort of a "Chita Rivera -- At Liberty," if you get the reference.
Yeah, you're right. Now that I think of it - it does sound more like a "special event."
But they have a bookwriter and everything, so I figured it would be like your traditional book musical.
I guess we'll see how it will turn out. It sounds very exciting too me.

Well, Elaine Stritch had John Lahr write the book of her show (after listening to hundreds of her anecdotes), and George Wolfe further helped her put together the whole package. Rivera's show could potentially be as good as "At Liberty" -- let's hope so.
off topic but answering about San Diego's Gay Pride. It's the last weekend of this month - July 30 & 31.
back on topic - can't wait for Chita!
ok...i dont think anyone who is old is not talented...but she cant sing or dance...robert goulet is older than her and he can still sing...but he is realistic and he is not going to dance in his shows.

Muscle, have you ever actually SEEN Chita on stage recently?? I saw her a couple of years ago in CHICAGO playing Roxie in the London production and I can honestly say she is by far the best Roxie EVER. And I've seen the show with a lot of casts. She can sing and dance so much better than half of the people on Broadway today (no offence, but the lady is just THAT talented!)
When you're her age, let's see how well you can sing and dance...
I am not going to miss this. I have wanted to see her again on stage ever since Nine. She is truely a legend.
Not only can she still dance but she made a full recovery after being hit by a car almost 20 years ago.

Then and Now
"ok...i dont think anyone who is old is not talented...but she cant sing or dance...robert goulet is older than her and he can still sing...but he is realistic and he is not going to dance in his shows."
Dude! Are you for real? I hope that you are being sarcastic if not you may wanna catcha clue real quick.
