I can hardly wait till Chitty flies into Atlanta! Woohoo
The show was cancelled in Chicago "due to slower than expected local ticket sales," according to Playbill.

Hmmm...I wonder just how poorly it sold there. Though Chicago has had some great theater opinions lately it would have to compete with.
I see the commercial fairly regularly on Boston's Comcast cable stations. But I do wonder how much of the Wang they will fill in just over a week.

Posted: 1/26/09 at 10:39amI saw this at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. I really enjoyed it. It is quirky and fun. The pacing is much better than the movie. It wasn't advertised that well. I think that's partly why they aren't selling as well as they could.

Posted: 7/7/09 at 6:39pmSaw it a few months ago in Columbus, OH. I thought it was cute, it's not Shakespeare, but it is kind of cute. If you liked the movie you'd probably enjoy it. I thought the flying car bit was done pretty well. But I have to admit, the added songs aren't terribly memorable. But at least all the good moments from the film score are there. The only thing about the performance that disappointed me was the choreography. It was very amateur--the Toot Sweet number looked like it was staged for a children's dance recital.

I saw it in Columbus on it's closing night there and I went in thinking, "Ugh. Another movie adaptation." I heard a bunch of crap about it but I actually REALLY liked it. Ir's not like it'd win any awards or anything but the performances were so great. The Baron and Baroness stole the frikin show. So did the two guys...they were spies...don't remember names but they adlibed and the audience ate them up. Standing O at the end (hard not to get one in Ohio).
In my humble opinion, it was a good show. Not great. It's comparable to WICKED I'd say.

I saw the show last night and I enjoyed it. It was a little slow in some parts, but over all I thought it was very cute. The actors did a good job with the material they had. (The Baron and Baroness were my favorite!) The car was pretty cool too. :)
If you are looking for a show that is entertaining, has some great tunes, and has spectacular sets/effects, then this show is for you.
