I'd say "Crapshooter's Ballet" from "Guys and Dolls".

Anything danced by Donna McKechnie, in particular "Tick Tock" and "Music and the Mirror"

Most of the Cagelles numbers in the La Cage revival

- So many things in A Chorus Line (when the cast turns and moves back at the beginning of "At the Ballet", the entire "Hello 12, Hello 13" sequence, Donna doing "Music and the Mirror", "One" in all it's cheezy, Vegas spectacle glory, etc, etc, and so forth)

- the tamborine dance during "Be Italian" in Nine (original)

- "Me and My Baby" from the Chicago revival

- "Hot Honey Rag"... with or without cartwheel

- "Welcome to 60s" (when those Dynamites walk out of the window I get so giddy) and "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray

- "Legally Blonde: Remix"... the Irish jig is just too much... only Jerry Mitchell could work that in

- "Turkey Lurkey Time" from Promises, Promises

- "Oklahoma Dream Sequence"... especially when the prostitutes go into the "Can't Say No" dance (I don't know what else to call it... that whole bordello sequence... I can remember being a kid and trying to do those kicks in my living room)

- "Dance at the Gym"... from Mambo to the Tony and Maria finger snaps

- pretty much all of Movin' Out

- Liza doing "I Gotcha" and "Ring Them Bells"

And so much more...

Z.

I agree with just about every one mentioned already, esp Contact, Hairspray, Curtains, and well, anything by Rob Ashford, so I'll just list my all time favorite:

The title song from "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

Also, I'd like to add "I Won't Dance", from Never Gonna Dance.

I really like "What is This Feeling?" from Wicked. It's not the most complicated thing in the world, but it fits the music so well.

I don't like anything from "Hairspray" at all, I just think Jerry Mitchell's choreography is terribly exciting. Although, the dancing in Legally Blonde is great.

Good: Pat Birch's "Come Up to My Office" from Parade. My jaw was on the floor.

Bad: Wayne "I was in Chorus Line, Please Hire Me!" Cilento's choreography for, well, every show he's done, but his "work" for Charity was criminal. I had to close my eyes several times. Why does he keep working? Updated On: 11/14/07 at 09:18 PM

I have to agree with Josh Frielich about the development of the single motif in Spring Awakening. You should be able to tell the difference between virtuosity and good choreography. Sometimes good choreography is difficult. Sometimes it's not difficult, but brilliantly constructed. By the time they got to Totally F*ed and I realized it was an accumulation of all the movement motifs from the show my jaw dropped.

It's like song writing--just because the singer belts to a G or something, doesn't mean it's a good song. It's impressive, but that doesn't mean the craft is good.

Anyway--

I'm a sucker for I've Got Rhythm from Crazy For You. But the most amazing choreography I've seen is Jerome Robbins's Dances at a Gathering.

ANYTHING BY MATTHEW BOURNE!!!
He is fantastic when he does his work with "Adventures in Motion Pictures"
- Swan Lake (incredible!, especially the club scene, and the first Swan Scene)

- The Car Man (AMAZING, the Opening Scene, and the opening of act two)

- Play Without Words - The Dressing Scene with the two Men getting dressed literally left me gob-smacked! it was stunning.

Jonny - Though she's not a Broadway choreographer (yet), I agree... Mia Michaels is FIERCE. Her piece that she choreographed to "Time" by Billy Porter, with the father and daughter meeting in heaven... I cried the entire time. And I don't cry lol.

Come to think of it, she would have been a much better choice to choreograph Spring Awakening........

- "Turkey Lurkey Time," from PROMISES, PROMISES. Just wow!
- "Legally Blonde: Remix," from LEGALLY BLONDE. Too much fun!
- "It's Your Wedding Day," from THE WEDDING SINGER. Incredible!
- "Whenever You're Away from Me, " from XANADU. Specifically... Curtis Holbrook!
- "You Can't Stop the Beat," from HAIRSPRAY. Soooooooo good!
- Most of the stuff from ALL SHOOK UP. I had so much fun at this show!

Josh,
I didn't know you were a dancer.

You guys really liked the MARY POPPINS dances?
I think the choreography in that show is all over the place with no particular style at all.
It's frantic, but that's all I can say about it.

I loved the soccer game choreography for the Hungarian version of Lloyd Webber's "The Beautiful Game". There are clips of it on youtube. You know it's a ballet, but at times you feel like you are watching a soccer game. There is no ball on the stage, but the dancing is done in such a way that you can almost see the ball in your mind's eye and follow which player has it. I thought it was unique and very cool.

I also loved The Jellicle Ball in "Cats", the Gaston number with the clinking drinking mugs in "Beauty and the Beast" and the Cell Block Tango from "Chicago".

Well, with the key word being "speechless", i'd have to vote for the entire original production of Dreamgirls (1980's) by Michael Bennett. An entire evening of exhiliration, with several standing "o"s throughout. And this was well before the typical standing o's of today. Brilliance.

"like = speechless?"

Well, I'm generally not talking before OR after it, so you can't consider it speechless.

Fine, if it will make you happy:

I loved "What is This Feeling?" from Wicked.
