"bjh2114, are you kidding me? What sucks about CURTAINS? "
No I am not kidding you. And literally everything about Curtains sucks except for David Hyde Pierce, Karen Ziemba, and Jason Danieley. I made a return visit (god only knows why I would subject myself to this again) a week ago. I hated it the first time but figured I would give it a second chance since everyone else seems to love it so much. The overture was great, but the whole thing went downhill from there. The book is poorly written, and you can see every joke coming even if you haven't seen the show. I am sorry, shoot me if you must, but Debra Monk is just not that good. I LOVE DEBRA MONK, don't get me wrong. And I don't think it's her fault here. I find her part to be VERY poorly written. Also Jill Paice makes me want to gauge out my eyes. Rob Asford's choreography for Thataway is decent, but falls flat the rest of the show. Noah Racey is still a let down, and "I Miss the Music", "Thinking of Him", and the reprise of those songs are the only good songs in the score in context of the show. While the cast recording is slightly better and all the songs are somewhat fun, in context of the show most of them fail to impress. What a waste of a ticket. I should have gone with my gut instinct and never seen that show again. I disliked it even more this time.
like i said curtains but look at the tkts board anyways to see what else is on there.

The point is nothing about CURTAINS is amazing.
Noah Racey is good. David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk are grand. Jason Danieley - amazing. Karen Ziemba is great. But that's about all you get.
A CHORUS LINE has fantastic performers and amazing material. You really can't get wrong. It's a legendary show that must be seen.
I wouldn't say the Chorus Line performances are amazing at all. As I said, except for Jason Tam, I was very disappointed with the acting.
I'm really torn on this. I saw them both, and I think they're both equally entertaining. But if I had to choose, I would go with Curtains.
I think ACL is going to be around for quite a while, Curtains may not be here very much longer.
Also, Curtains still has its amazing OBC. It's very entertaining, and it is Kander & Ebbs last collaboration, sorta.
I would chose A Chorus Line, based on the other two musicals that you're seeing. Curtains fits perfectly in with Mary Poppins and Legally Blond- it has lots of big ensemble dancing, it's enjoyable and it makes you laugh. It's a fun show. A Chorus Line however, despite the performances, is just so much more than "a fun show." If you were seeing any other shows, I would suggest Curtains but since you're seeing a bunch of really fun shows I suggest you see a show that has gone down in the Broadway history books as one of the best shows of all time. A Chorus Line is a theatre staple, whereas Curtains and all of the other shows you are seeing are enjoyable but not at all important in the grand scheme of Broadway shows.
Curtains does have an amazing cast though. If you ever wanted to see the show, I would say see it now because the original cast is brilliant. Given the audience response it got when I saw the show on Friday, I'm sure it will be here at least for another year or so.

I didn't say that, Shubbie :)
If you're looking for the classic American musical, I'd say go to A Chorus Line. Curtains is...well, I've never seen Curtains so I can't pass judgement. I've seen both Mary Poppins and Legally Blonde. Mary Poppins is absolutely indescribable (in a good way), but I wasn't too fond of Blonde. But if you're easy satisfiable you'll probably like it.
A Chorus Line.
