My Favorite Things may never mention Christmas, but it has become a holiday standard. What are some of your favorite Christmas songs from musicals holiday themed or otherwise?
"We Need a Little Christmas," of course. I also love "Twelve Days to Christmas" from She Loves Me, although that sadly has never become a holiday standard.
"Be A Santa" from Subways Are For Sleeping. Although, not in this scary version:

I'm not trying to be rude at all.....but I don't think I've ever heard this come up around the holdiays. Is this a regional thing?
Billy Elliot has a christmas song....couldn't tell you what it is though.

A cd was issued some years ago called "A Broadway Christmas," which was a compilation of Christmas songs from different Broadway shows. It's a nice album. The Amazon web site provides a list of the songs and the shows they're from.

My Favorite Things has been a holiday standard for 40 years now, and I hear it played every season. So no, it's not a "regional thing." It goes back to the '60s, at least as far as Streisand's first Christmas Album, and her rendition is great (slow tempo).

You'll find it on dozens of other Christmas albums as well. Check out the Supremes version, fantastically jazzy, complete with "sleigh bells," which has been featured on holiday commercials for Target, among others, in the past.

Not sure why you're surprised it was adopted as a holiday standard, actually.
Lovers on Christmas Eve, from I Love My Wife.
"White Christmas" has always been my very favorite Christmas song and I was delighted to learn that it too was from a musical ("Holiday Inn")
"A New Deal for Christmas" from ANNIE (though, of course, it's very specific to the show).

"A Place Called Home" from A CHRISTMAS CAROL - music by Alan Menken, book by Lynn Ahrens.
"Billy Elliot has a christmas song....couldn't tell you what it is though."
I believe it was the somewhat catchy "Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher."
It's not featured in the actual show, but on the cast album
"Three Wishes for Christmas" from Gypsy I like!
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) from LEADER OF THE PACK.

Pine Cones and Holly Berries from Here's Love
That Man Over There Is Santa Claus also from Here's Love......to name a few.
I always enjoy (anytime of the year)" My Friend, Here's To You" by Carey Grant.....always thought of it as Christmas! (but not in a show, best to my knowledge)

Christmas Gifts from It's a Wonderful Life (stage version)
Christmas Eve (cut from She Loves Me)
Christmas Child from Irma La Douce
I Don't Remember Christmas from Starting Here, Starting Now
Greenwillow Christmas from Greenwillow
Lovers on Christmas Eve from I Love My Wife
The Happy New Year Blues from The Music Box Revue (Irving Berlin)
And yes, I found all these songs on a wonderful album produced by Bruce Kimmel called "A Broadway Christmas." It's always in or near my player during the holidays -- and sometimes other seasons. It was originally on Varese Saraband in the 1990's but I doubt it's still in print. It also includes most of the usual suspects listed above sung by Broadway pros and I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks Mr. Kimmel!
ETA sorry, After Eight, somehow I missed your post above.

Christmas is My Favorite Time of Year from Catch Me If You Can
That's a fun one, Adam Peterson- it exists in an uptempo, Christmassy version that appears in the show but not on the cast recording (it's on one of the Carols for a Cure albums, though), and the dark ballad version in the cast recording that acts as a reprise onstage.
A lot of the songs listed mention Christmas, but they're definitely not Christmas songs. At all.
Not you typical Christmas song, but I will vote for Hard Candy Christmas. Kind of a sad song, but a pick me up song that is good to hear anytime of the year!
Pine Cones & Holly Berries
