Clara u/s performances this week

Another thread said that katie is on vacation this week and the understudies will be in for Clara. Does anyone know what performances will be done by Jennifer and which will be done by Laura? Thanks

I desperately want to see Jennifer Hughes again because she is an INCREDIBLE Clara, my favorite. Does anyone know if she is going to be on Friday night?

Ohhhh I want to see Laura Griffith in the role so badly! She's a wonderful Franca, and I'm sure she's an equally wonderful Clara.

When Kelli had her vacation, though, they gave Jennifer Hughes the entire week. Maybe Lincoln Center knows?

Most likely, Jennifer Hughes will be going on the entire week. The only reason Laura Griffith went on twice before was because both Katie and Jennifer were sick (you can read about it in Aaron Lazar's blog.)

Jennifer Hughes is a better performer than Katie, I can't understand why producers didn't offer the job to Jennifer. Doesn't make sense.

It's a vacation, so Katie will be out through Sunday and will return on Tuesday, June 6.

I think they got a replacement for Clara because to move Jennifer up would have meant they had to get someone who could fill her ensemble track AND understudy Clara. It was less of a battle to get someone just for the role of Clara.

I've heard good things about the Clara understudy. Katie, however, was not too hot in the role. She was cute and funny in the right spots, but the girl couldn't sing the title number to save her life. People around me were actually cringing at Katie's attempts to hit those notes.

Sorry guys, but i'm and OBC hog. I'm a big fan of Kelli. Saw the show twice both with Kelli. I haven't seen Katie so I don't know, nor do I know anything about Jennifer Hughes. I guess I will see Katie on the 14th (or whenever Piazza will be on PBS)

Actually, Laura will be splitting performances with Jennifer while Katie is on vacation. At the Wednesday matinee she and David Burnham appeared together for the first time as Clara and Fabrizio.

Burnham also scheduled to play Fabrizio Wed. nite and Thursday nite...my advice, GO! I sure would, were I in town!

I'd recommend everyone to go as long as there is an actress who can sing the role of Clara. Katie can't really do it. Horrible casting.

saw Laura G. tonight! I think she is wigged, but it is NOT a blonde wig. It was her hair color and texture, it looked like, but it was a bit longer. She looked gorgeous and was amazing. She reminds me of Lesley Ann Warren. Plus, trust me, she can (and did) sing it.

I used to take class with Laura, and not only is she one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, she is also one of the most talented. I am thrilled with the way her career is going, and I hope someone finds a wonderful lead for her soon - she deserves it. The first time I saw Light In The Piazza, she was on for Franca, and her performance was simply stunning.

I'm so jealous you got to see Laura, Doogie! Glad to hear she did so well.

Was David Burnham also on? I'm wondering how they worked together, because when he and Jennifer Hughes were on together, it was positively electric, and their Say It Somehow was the most beautiful I've ever heard.

How does Laura look on stage as Clara? Because in the picture below (of her and fellow Clara u/s Jennifer Hughes,) she looks as though she may be a little old for the role...

she looks absolutely fine as Clara. Quite pretty, in fact. May I remind you that, as she is the dance captain and u/s for 2 MAJOR roles, those photos, taken after weeks of previews (which, again, as a dance captain, would be especially tiring), tend to show people who may not be as well rested as the rest of the world. She did really look like Lesley Ann Warren in her Cinderella days.
