Clay Aiken as "Boq"

Posted: 11/14/05 at 4:25amI predict that in 2006, "American Idol" will meet "WICKED", and tell me you can't just see Clay Aiken as "Boq",... Hey I wonder what BB would sound like as "Fiyero", LOL!! And the "Big Teddy Bear" (What was his name?? Rueben?) well, Rueben will wait and do something in RENT perhaps.

Posted: 11/14/05 at 6:13amBut Clay even has those "Munchkin Ears" - It would be too good!!!

Posted: 11/14/05 at 7:12amAbsolutely! LOL!! Okay, "Pixie" perhaps?? He just has this "Boq-ishness" to his style. We'll see, They'll probably read this and throw him in "CHICAGO" as the next Billy Flynn after Huey gets tired of the ridicule. Fran, Barry, Did you hear that!!??

Posted: 11/14/05 at 7:30amIf Wicked is still with us in 25 years, Clay can play the Wizard. He kind of looks the part. Heck considering the current mis-casting of Fiyero, lets get Clay to play him...that would be interesting.

To date, I've seen two American Idol contestants in professional theatre...Frenchie Davis in RENT and Amy Adams in Joseph. Both were quite good. That said, if Clay Aiken can act (not sure if he can) I don't completely rule him out as a theatre performer...we know he can sing.
Actually, I always wondered how Clay would do as a one Mr. Mark Cohen. Not saying he should or shouldn't, but I'd be curious. He looks the part.

Clay can act. He was in SoM with Frankie Muniz in North Carolina back in the early 90's and I think did theatre all through high school and college.
As for BWay...he was strongly pursued to do Urinetown before it closed and I believe he may have done some of the Mask(Cher not Jim Carrey movie) early readings.

Posted: 11/14/05 at 12:57pmFrenchie Davis is great in RENT and let's not forget Tamyra Gray in BOMBAY DREAMS ...she can sing like a goddess, dance and act!!! and she was super nice at the stage door. What an amazing Broadway debut.

Posted: 11/14/05 at 1:23pmYeah, maybe Clay would make a good Mark, he already was the Markish look about him.

Posted: 11/14/05 at 1:25pmi don't know if he is too tall to play Boq...but he has a munchkin look though.
#13re: Clay Aiken as 'Boq'
Posted: 11/14/05 at 3:33pmWould not shock me in anyway... I could actually see it. We'll see... It's almost too small a part for him but he might consider it...

Oh my! I will definitely not be seeing that portion of the run, lol...I have seen Wicked several times, and in several different cities, this is not a tempting proposal! I have always found him to be a tad annoying, and his vocal chops aren't top-notch. Why not give some deserving, unknown, performers a chance; it's not like Boq is a prime role for someone, with a name, to jump at. As for Clay Aiken playing Fiyero...Subject change, I'm getting sick!
See Ya!

The Weisslers were successful with their casting of Kevin Richardson (Backstreet Boys) in CHICAGO.
But they know better to not have Clay anywhere near CHICAGO.
And yeah, some of you are forgetting Clay is very tall. Not Boqish.

maybe no Boq, but don't discount all boy band types from Broadway. While Joey Fatone and Drew Lachey were no great shakes as Mark, I think Clay could actually work.
And look at Joey McIntyre. He's quite the theatre performer.
To my previous point - Frenchie Davis and Amy Adams are both excellent in their roles as well!

I'm gonna get a little technical:
The term "Munchkin" actually applies to being a citizen of Munchkinland, rather than a title of stature.

Posted: 11/14/05 at 4:45pmclay would be a good fiyero actually. hes got the look, and hes got an awesome range (ive heard some of the highest notes from a male singer just listening to him, and hes great when he sings lower.) and if you look at the last couple fiyeros *cough* david and derrick *cough* he can definately sing much better than them.
#20re: Clay Aiken as 'Boq'
Posted: 11/14/05 at 6:58pmHe could easily sing and act the part, but he's too tall and probably has better things to do.
#21re: Clay Aiken as 'Boq'
Posted: 11/14/05 at 7:57pmHe would be a good Mark in RENT. But way too tall for Boq.

Sorry. Deep breaths.
No. No Clay Aiken. Ever. Especially not in a role originally played by Christopher Fitzgerald. Just. no.

Besides his Christmas tour, he doesn't seem like he's doing too much currently...
Still, I can't see him as Boq. If they were going to bother to cast him in Wicked, Fiyro might not be a bad role for him, except for As Long as Your Mine. Can anyone really see CLAY AIKEN trying to be "sexy"?
