does the michael reidel article this morning hurt?
I mean, when the producers announce what Michael said this morning in the paper that Ragtime will probably close Jan 3, will that hurt you to know i am right once again?
It probably will. Just a tad.

Is that what you're after? That's kind of pathetic.
I'm continually fascinated by supposed aficionados of theatre who find real glee in the anticipated failure of a Broadway show.

it's not glee of other people losing jobs its the glee of seeing people who are mean and ruthless for no reason and make personal attacks to eat their words.
when i predict a shows closing it has nothing to do with the PEOPLE in it, it has to do with the facts of why its not going to run. You are the one making it personal. I never ever once said "i hope it close because I don't like (insert specific actor's name here). That would make it personal and pretty much pathetic. So stop doing it yourselves.
This economy is no laughing mater. There is almost 20% unemployment out there and people can barely eat much less pay for holiday gifts. This countries overwrought obsession with the fiat system is destroying the dollar and the respect this
Learn how to read a simple bar graph and you also can have the iq of at least 80 to see when a show is not working.
Stop taking things personally.

artscallion, I think that it is more of an ego trip then anything else. There are people out there who get off on either being right and convincing others of that fact, or just starting fights.
Looks like Massofmen could be doing either one.
and. Cornie. Wintuk for the last few years has been a limited run for the season. It's not something that was open ended and is closing due to bad box office sales.

I think it's sad when anything closes/ comes to an end.
Whether it be a show, a restaurant, a store- anything. It may not have been up to par for a lot of people, but it represents someone's investing and losing a lot of money (sometimes all they had) and their hopes and dreams. It's heartbreaking when it has to close.
That's how I see it.

Posted: 12/2/09 at 2:15pmFrom what I've heard, noone in the cast knows anything about this "rumor." That is all it is... And a prediction! I am still hoping it stays open, because it is a great show and deserves to be on broadway. Love ya Ragtime!

Posted: 12/2/09 at 6:57pmThis is just like January of this year when so many shows including limited engaements were closing in January. I wonder if SNL will do another sketch of it.

Posted: 12/13/09 at 6:26pmSince there are a lot of rumors going around, I just want to know for sure: Is Ragtime closing on January 3rd or at all? Give an article to back yourself up. I don't want to create more rumors here.
#34re: Closing on January 3, 2010
Posted: 12/13/09 at 6:32pmThere has been no official announcement of a closing date, so as of right now Ragtime should be considered open-ended.

it is 20% unemployment. They only count the number of claims on the unemployment benefits. Since people are running out of benefits they are not "counted"
they are also not counting people with "temporary jobs". Like working at the Gap. these are people who would much rather be working at Goldman but lost their jobs so they need a temporary one.
We are looking at about 18-19% unemployment right now. 10% is a farce.

Massofmen,
As an Economics major, I have to beg you to stop pretending you know what you are talking about.
#37re: Closing on January 3, 2010
Posted: 12/14/09 at 9:46amIf you combine "under-employment" and people who have stopped looking for work altogether with actual unemployment benefit claims, massofmen is pretty much on target with that percentage.
