Saw the original COCO on Broadway and had a rough time sitting through it. After it closed, the Westbury Music Fair did a version with Ginger Rogers which was much more enjoyable. Incidentally, Ginger played Coco Chanel as blonde but this was after her stint as DOLLY on Broadway, where audience's didn't recognize her under that red wig.
I think I listened to it years ago but i found the remastered version today on Google Play. About to listen to it.
I've posted this before, but when Hepburn left the Broadway production, she was replaced by the legendary French actress Danielle Darrieux. Darrieux had a lovely and strong singing voice. Listening to her rehearse, Lerner leaned over to Previn and whispered "Why André -- you wrote a musical!"
I wonder if there's an audio boot of her in the show? Regardless, the box office tanked without Hepburn and the show closed not too long after.

The show did release a single with Danielle singing "Always Mademoiselle" featuring a soft-rock pop arrangement.

The exchange about Sebastian went:
"Is he homosexual?"
"Oh, he's beyond that."
Also at some point soon after the tour closed Ginger Rodgers did a stock tour (with the original costumes) that played large venues. It did business basically because of her.
Thank you all!
Yes Someone In A True2 the male duet from Dance a Little Closer were a charming moment in an often charmless show. I've put them in the couples list and left Sebastian in the singles list:
