Oh, this makes me so happy. I'm gonna pick my copy up today!
the colony always seems to get theater realated cds early - i got my fiddler cd the week before it was supposed to come out ther too
good to know for those of us who hate waiting!!
i thought it was illegal for merchants to release books/cd's/etc before the official release date. didn't someone get in trouble for selling a harry potter book early?
That's what I thought, too.
I can guarantee Colony Records price is also incredible. I always found Footlights prices much more reasonable than Colonys Does anyone remember (you have to be old) Gaity Records in Times Square ? It was next to Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum . It was sandwiched between the Astor & Victoria Theaters now the site of the Mariott Marquis - originally designed as the Portman Hotel.

i forgot to post this!!! i was in there yesterday asking about the HAIR recording and the guy said "well, we dont have that but we got the Little Women cd in this morning and its great!"
There's still apparently a lot of confusion with the HAIR CD. I heard Raul say something about it last night.

yea, I asked Raul about the Hair CD last night, he said that it is coming out soon, he just doesnt know when. He heard from Norm Lewis that it's awesome, though.
That would be exactly what I overheard.

anyone want to tell us if the score stands up stronger on cd than in the theatre like i said it would?
While it is true that the labels expect street dates to be honoured, Colony and Footlight have long had arrangements to start selling cast albums ahead of the regular retail outlets. Sometimes they are also on sale in the theatres a few weeks ahead of the release date. If these were major selling pop releases the retailers would probably kick about it, but lets face it no regular retailer is going to have 200 people oustide their door lined up to buy LITTLE WOMEN.
SPAMALOT fans might want to start checking the theatre and Colony or Footlight for that OCR.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

It's a shame that a retailer would break street date with impugnity and even more of a shame that they would use that as an excuse to overcharge their customers so. This CD will be an $18.98 list, which means most retailers will be selling it for around $15 when it streets on May 3. I guess it's up to you to decide if the extra dough is worth avoiding a week's wait.
OMG.....I WANNA LIVE IN NY
I can't get over how amazing the score sounds.. its a huge orchestra and everyone's voices, esp. Maureen and Sutton's are in incredible form!
