Hi, BWW. I am a longtime lurker, and I apologize for posting just to hassle you for information. I did a search but nothing recent came up. Please point me in the right direction if I have missed it.
How has rush for The Color Purple been since the Tony's? If I show up for a Saturday matinee when the box office opens, will I get seats, or is it mobbed? Any time suggestions?
Thanks guys,
Elizabeth
People usually line up from 8 30 - 9. If you arrive when the box office opens, you have a very small chance of getting a ticket.
Get there early.
And this is when the box office opens at 10 am? What about on Sundays when it doesn't open till 12?

Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply, Wicked!
Is that true even considering I am going on a Saturday? I don't mind showing up at 8 to wait, but I assumed for a weekend it would be earlier than that. Two hours ahead doesn't sound too rough to me at all.
This thread's from earlier this month, there's talk of 6am, 6:30am, 7:30am:
thread
last sunday I had to be at a meeting at 7am and walked past the Broadway theatre around 6:45 and there were about 10 people in line. Pretty early!
Yea-- I passed by it on Sunday at 7:45 while walking to get rush for THREEPENNY. At that time it looked like there was 20-30 people on line.
I just went to see TCP matinee last saturday and got rush tickets. I showed up at 8:30 and was about the 22nd person in line. (mind you, it was rainy then too) Fortunately, because they're rushing both the matinee and evening performance, I got tickets. But barely. To be safe, 8 sounds reasonable.

So do they sell matinee and evening rush at the same time?
When I tried last time, the line was around the corner and welld own the block. I just left.
Yes the now seel matinee and evening at same time. You have to be there by 7 to get a ticket on a Saturday.
You have to be freaking kidding me.

I went back in February and got on the line on a Wednesday at 10AM and for 8PM shows the tix go on sale at 12PM. I was fine, second row center. :-] For 2PM shows, I'd suggest getting there a bit earlier because tickets for that go on sale at 10AM. Weekends usually bring long lines.
Good luck!
Most of the people who talked about waiting in line went over the weekend and I was planning on going next week on a Wednesday or Thursday. Does anyone know if the lines lately are shorter those days or would it still be wise to get there around 7 or 8am?

On days when there are two shows, tickets to both performances go on sale when the box office opens.

Sorry if this info is too late for you, but fyi a friend of mine got in the rush line last wk Thurs at 8:45am, and the box office sold the last tickets to the person two people in front of her. So I would say 8am even during the week may still be wise.
