In my opinion, this production had incredible potential to be a stunt casting juggernaut. It has a relatively small cast and the set is all automated. The orchestra is probably a few players larger than it needs to be but the sound is exceptional. Sad that we won’t be able to see a Baranski, Buckley, Whoopi, or Bernadette Joanne. Hell, I could see the producers really splurging for a Midler or Close stunt cast for a few months if they really wanted to hike up the tickets.
And that’s not even considering the possibilities for Bobbies!
I wonder if the producers tried to get a name replacement for LuPone or Lenk and nothing came through? Their advance for the Fall must have been non-existent.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
That has to be it. There’s no way this would close now if they could have gotten someone to come in for a short run. This revival could have easily lasted another year - but deals must have fallen through (similar to what was rumored with Dolly).
Hi all! Big fan of this production of Company and am heartbroken it is closing without a cast album. I'm not sure how else to convey to Chris Harper how badly us fans want this album to be produced other than aggregating signatures in a petition. Figured it's worth a shot.
