Who knew? Anyone watch his brilliant opening on the Emmy's?
I'd pay top dollar for that...
The Weisslers are the phone with his agent right now, trying to book him for Billy Flynn.
I honestly wouldn't be suprised after tonight.
Heh, I can't believe NBC let him do that. I liked the thing about "no musical talent" though, because about 15 seconds before he said that I thought to myself (not really paying full attention) "Conan doesn't have a bad voice." Until I realized a second later, "...he's not even singing, is he?"
Yeah, when I saw that, I thought, "Some theater producer out there right now is going to start scheming about this."
Exactly! The part doesn't require a "singer". Just a great showman. And, as every Irish stereotype knows, give me a drink and I'll sing!!
He could move too!
He was better than guys I've paid 100 bucks to see. (And I mean onstage, before I get zinged).

Conan wouldn't be bad in the talk-singing roles, like Henry Higgins. Okay maybe not. That'd be funny. I can hear "I've Grown Accustomed to her Face" now...

There's no way he can do it. Unless it were already happening and he jumped in it for like 3 weeks to fulfill some kind of musical theater void in his heart. He has a packed schedule as it is doing a tv show that shows every week.
I would pay for that too, haha. But I have heard him sing with guitar and he's not bad at all! Those lullabies on Late Night are great, too.
haha i don't really watch tv and wasn't going to watch the emmys but i'm glad i saw that. Conan gets points in my book. Maybe I'll start not hating him for ripping apart lord of the rings a couple years ago lol
RentBoy, darling, this is just for fun! Not meant to be a real casting choice. But, I can hear the phones ringin' now!!
Just in case his little TV show doesn't work out (LOL), he can always fall back on Broadway. (Can't wait for another--death of broadway/stunt casting--thread)
Truth is, whether or not he could ever logistically do it, he would be terrific in the role! (in my immeasurably humble opinion).

yeah i know, just saying. i think he'd sell tickets and he would bring a whole new group to Broadway, but it won't ever happen sadly. i dont think he's even done any acting outside of his talk show. or any serious acting anyways.
Oh, honey, Rentboy, you are so sweet. I just want to hug you!
Fantasy casting is just that. But sometimes fantasies come true.
Serious acting is a whole 'nother story. For the Music Man, "charming" acting is most necessary.
He would sell tickets, no doubt, but imagine the crowd he'd bring in...
Next thing Letterman will want to be Man in Chair!
Hehe, love ya!
Does anyone have a clip of it...I did not get the chance to watch the Emmys!
JDO
I won't mention the site that is not to me mentioned, but I imagine within moments, it will be posted.
Or, the news during the day (NBC in particular) will be running it in all of their various venues...
Actually at the end of the awards, it was mentioned that Bravo would replay it, so you can catch an encore presentation!
I always thought he'd make a good Jesus, Judas or KingHerod
That could work, lol. I've heard him hit Led Zeppelin notes, and though he was joking, it didn't sound half bad!

There actually were rumors a few years ago about Conan going in as a replacement in the MUSIC MAN revival.
And don't forget, Conana also wrote the famous "Monorail" episode of "THe Simpsons", which featured a "Music Man" parody.
Somehow that rumor rings a bell.
That Simpsons episode is one of my favs.
Maybe Conan has a plan.
Conan has actually voiced his love of musical theater before on his show...so this did not suprise me. He was actually a really great host though.
On the commentary for the Monorail episode, Conan claims that he was offered the part of Harold Hill for the revival a few years back and that he really wanted to do it because he's such a fan of the show, but the scheduling would have been impossible with Late Night.

Nah, he just needs to move into the Letterman studio! Easy!
They should have gotten him for the TV remake.

Well if Conan loves Musical Theatre, maybe he can partner that with his admiration for Abraham Lincoln and be Booth in Assassins.
