Proving once again if you want to see innovative, thought provoking, exciting theatre, Broadway is the last place you should look. Shows like that can't survive on Broadway. Broadway audiences for the most part have become too stupid to see something that might require them to think. Crap does pretty well though: Wicked, Mamma Mia, Phantom.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Good for the producers for taking a big leap of faith and mounting the show on Broadway. It would have been nice if it had garnered more of an audience because then more people would have realized what a hysterical show it really is. It's certainly not an easy sell on paper, however.
