While I did enjoy Glee this season, I enjoyed Modern Family a whole lot more. To tell the truth, I wouldn't have been as into Glee if it wasn't for Jane Lynch. I think the singing is fine, the acting is horrible, and the plot mindless. I much prefer Modern Family which at least has more than one entertaining actor and a funny book!

Theatrefan4, yes, yes I do. And, just because Mandy is a little older does not make him not a "Broadway regular."
http://ibdb.com/person.php?id=55659
Matthew and Lea have only been on Broadway (for the most part) for only the last ten years; Mandy has been on Broadway since the 70s and is a multiple time Tony nominee and q Tony Award Winning Performer so the fact that you are saying Matthew or Lea are more famous so to speak, which I'm inferring from your post is simply laughable.

Matthew Morrison, fine, he was in a few good shows. But, Lea Michele, in her adult career really has only had on big real, that being in Spring Awakening.

Also congrats to Glee, as there version of 'dont stop believin' entered the UK Singles chart at Number 5 today!
For those not familiar with the British system, we have ONE chart that every genre goes into whether its download or hard copy bought! (I'm not 100% sure about Americas current system, it may be the same!)
But either way that is INCREDIBLE, especially as the original peaked at number 6! (Which coincidentally is where it is at the moment, the original had a revial in England a while back and has been in the top 40 for 67 weeks now!)

Also a congrats to them from England, as the pilot and second episode (aired over here last monday) gained double the amount of viewers that channel normally gets at that time on a Monday!

I have a feeling Glee is gonna be MASSIVE Brit Side!

Yeah, as much as I think "Glee" is enjoyable, "Modern Family" is a nearly flawlessly written and acted show. And just plain hilarious. I hope it wins the Emmy this year. I also am majorly rooting for "Modern Family" to win the SAG Award for Best Ensemble. There is no way "Glee" deserves that award. Uneven acting (minus Jane Lynch, of course, who is funny in a big way).

I watch Glee regularly, but I was originally hopelessly confused at its Golden Globes win. But, in retrospect and considering the competition, I think I might get it.

There are two shows that could be erased off the bat. Entourage is completely devoid of buzz and definitely not funny enough to win on that strength, and The Office is... exactly what I said about Entourage.

30 Rock is unquestionably the funniest, most consistent show on television. That said, I can't think of any network show as rewarded in recent awards show, be they SAG, Emmy, or Golden Globe, so there's a feeling that they've had enough.

That leaves Glee and Modern Family, and good as Modern Family is, it's just too consistently mediocre to get the award, Two and a Half Men be damned. Modern Family has lots of very good actors delivering some very smile-worthy, almost chuckle-able material. Glee has some great actors scattered in a raw, mostly decent cast who flounder in most of their dialogue, but occasionally really deliver and every now and then give a totally kick-ass musical number. No, it's not consistent, and no, it's not the best comedy show on television right now, but it's hot right now, it's new, and it's definitely good (if not great), so it's not the end of the world if it picks up one of the two awards that together make up one of the three somewhat respectable awards that honor TV shows.

Are you kidding? I'm sorry, but I know I'm not the only one to practically guffaw every single episode. "Too consistently mediocre"? Are we watching the same show? The writing and sense of ensemble is some of the best on TV right now. Even the kids are great! That's gotta say something. There is not one weak anything about that show.

On the other hand, there are many weak things about Glee. Let's be real, I love watching the show, but it's more of a guilty pleasure than an actually good piece of TV. The writing and acting is inconsistent at best. Jane Lynch and her zingers are the best and most consistent thing about the show. I think it poorly represents show choirs, live singing, musical theatre, and the hard work it takes to actually learn and rehearse a fully choreographed, multi-voiced song. And way too much autotune.

So congrats, Glee, but that award belongs to Modern Family. Emmy voters, please take note.

I'll echo most of the sentiments here. 30 Rock is the best comedy on television and Modern Family deserved the award. I could name a dozen other shows (How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory) that weren't even nominated that should have won over Glee.

And I like the show... there just is nothing "best" about it

AMEN, Steven!!!

You nailed it - not one single "weak link" about the always fantastic Modern Family. Writing, direction, style, and acting is *spot on*

I would first like to say that I too CACKLE at every episode of Modern Family and (oh, Wishing - who is annoying me too, for the record - can we talk about Modern Family since that little red head dude was in Spelling Bee? Is that ok with you? Since he too, isn't more famous than Mandy?) as much as I LOVE 30 Rock and wanted it to win, would have preferred Modern Family over Glee.

But the real reason for my post is this:

Win or lose...didn't Lea Michele look AWFUL!?!? I hated her dress sooo much. It was HUGE! When do you ever see people wearing huge dresses like that at awards shows? I had on a slightly poofy dress at the Emmys and felt a little...well poofy, compared to everyone else...and Lea's dress was like TRIPPLE the poof.

tommigryl5, I was issuing a response to Theatrefan4 who gave me a laughable response just because I made a valid point. I'm sorry that my opinions annoy you but I never said Mandy was more famous; recognizing someone does not make them famous, if Patti LuPone walked by, you would probably recognize her, but if she's in a room with Eva Longoria Parker, Patti's not the famous one. But, in the Broadway community, and especially on this site, Mandy should be more "recognizable" just based off his myriad credits and awards/award nominations.

Now being that no one asked if I was annoying you, and the fact that you spelled your user name the way it is spelled (weather it be a play on words or not,) along with your writing style " [...] AWFUL!?!? I hated her dress sooo much. It was HUGE!" leads me to infer that you have a pretty low maturity level, I am therefore sooo done with this conversation.
