With the recent announcement that PUSHING DAISIES has been picked-up for a full season (guaranteed 22 episodes), seems La Chenoweth has finally broken her bad luck spell with network television.
Thanks to her RV director, Barry Sonnefeld, who also directed the first 2 episodes (and is one of the executive producers of PUSHING DAISIES), he seems to be pushing for La Chenoweth to be showcased more.
Not only has her character Olive been expanded (she's already having her own sublots), but the character has also had the chance to sing in 2 episodes.
HD (high definition) tends to reveal many actor's facial flaws, which sometimes isn't too flattering on them. La Chenoweth has been spared this dilemma and photographs phenomenal on HD. So much so that if this series continues with a successful run, it'll finally give her the mass exposure (alas, a hopeful international one) that'll allow her to be put in the forefront of films, instead of the bit part she's been permitted. In other words...hopefully she'll be a big enough name whenever Universal Pictures decides on making the film-version of WICKED. With some digital work she can definitely pull-off the young Galinda, and keeping her 'as is' for the latter part Glinda.
I'm sure the powers-that-be are keeping an eye-out right now with all this in consideration.
Things are finally starting to look-up for La Chenoweth, and I couldn't be happier for her. It took some time, but good things tend to take a while sometimes. Here's hoping PUSHING DAISIES keeps finding an audience and has a nice run of a few seasons -- not just one.

She is a good actress but it seems that she plays the same part EVERY single time. The ditzy blonde. And boy does she do a good job of it to. In fact she did earn a tony of doing that. Only difference was that she was doing it as a five year old in Charlie Brown.
And, before anyone jumps down my throat for saying that she has got to be a good actress because she won a tony. Realize that not everyone that wins a Tony is always worthy of it. A good recent example would be this years Tony awards when Raul Esparza was cheated out of one by David Hyde perice. Who by the way just played the same character in curtians that he did in Spamalot.

Speaking for others who own an HD TV (especially a 60-inch widescreen Sony)
...when merited and to make a reference point: "yes".

BrodyFosse--I agree with most of what you say--but since when haven't things been looking up for Kristin? She certainly is always working, and much more in TV and Movies than Broadway recently. Granted, the quality of some what she has done has been subpar (Bewitched, RV), but she was on The West Wing for a couple of years.
I think she would be still be great as Glinda in the movie if it was made in the next few years. She still is strikingly beautiful, and can play young (no matter what people have been saying on this board). Billie Burke was 54 years old when she played Glinda in The Wizard of Oz.

"Billie Burke was 54 years old when she played Glinda in The Wizard of Oz."
Perhaps, but Ms. Burke wasn't playing her as a college student. Maybe Cheno can play young on stage, but onscreen is another matter. Unless they go the Grease route with a completely older cast, she won't play Glinda on film. Jessica Simpson has a better shot at the role.

I love the show, and she's fabulous in it.
I also think that their wardrobe person is fantastic. I want some of those dresses that Chuck, Olive, and the crazy aunts wear!

Maybe I'm just superstitious, but congratulating someone on a "successful" television venture less than a month into the season- on a show where that's at *least* one casualty per episode- makes me feel a bit uneasy.
And I'd prefer Kristin not play Glinda in any movie adaptation of Wicked because she can do better.

One casualty per episode? Have you at least WATCHED an episode of PUSHING DAISIES? None of the main characters suffers any casualties. Yes, 'dead people' are involved in the plot, but they are other people who the main characters aren't connected to.
No one DIES in any episode -- these unfamiliar people are already 'dead' when the main characters get involved with them.

Only Ned's mom and Charlotte/Chuck's dad are the only 2 people 'connected' to the main characters on a personal level that Ned couldn't bring back.
Those other people you mentioned have no personal connection to any of the main characters on PUSHING DAISIES.
Nope...not even the owner of the luxury apartment from The Pie Hole nor the pilot of the hijacked plane that crashed into it.

Seconded on the wardrobe. Sometimes it's a little too Stepfordlike, but I really loved the dresses KC was wearing in the latest episode. Especially the 70's print one (her hair was teased back and topped with a headband).
This show is visually amazing. A big riot of color after years of beige-looking sitcoms and barely lit, gray-toned procedure dramas.

Brody, thanks, but I've watched every single episode- multiple times in fact- and am perfectly aware of what I'm talking about. Unlike certain other board members who appear to be watching for the sole purpose of fangirling Broadway personalities, I'm watching because I love the show. Not the careers of the actors.
In addition to spidey's list, you seem to have conveniently forgotten the technically dead main character Chuck. Not to mention multiple other at-risk situations the main characters have been in ("B*tch I was in proximity!") thus far. It's only a matter of time, and seeing as how the bulk of the show is focused on Chuck (the soulmate) and Emerson (the comedic relief), Olive is the mostly likely candidate for a sweeps week/season finale death.

I love the show and I love her on it. Kristin Chenoweth and Ellen Greene singing Birdhouse In Your Soul while a frickin' bedazzled carrier pigeon flew above head is something I never knew I always wanted.
Happy to hear that she's workin' the HD, because I've seen some un-airbrushed photographs of her that would suggest the opposite.
The lady is a very strange dichotomy between looking much younger than she is and much older than she is. I attribute that to too much sunshine and smilin'.

Craww, that scene was so amazing I cannot put it into words.
Btw, I love the show for itself--I didn't even know Kristin was in it until I started watching the pilot episode.

I just watched the show for the first time last night (DVR) and I think this is the best new series of the year. A lot of it reminds me of the French film Amelie, both in style and the narration.
Basically, it's awesome.

Posted: 10/26/07 at 9:42amI wish they could give her more layered roles. She's ALWAYS the ditzy, cute blonde. Don't get me wrong, she's great in those type roles, but I want to she her play a DIFFERENT character! Chenoweth needs to prove that she not just a one trick pony! As for Pushing Daisies... love the show! GOOD FOR YOU CHENO!

Broadwayfosse, while I appreciate your passion for Chenoweth, the reason she's getting any buzz at all for this show is *because* she's finally stopped, (or not being allowed to) do her "I'm really a young gal" schtick. She should embrace her age and experience and prehaps she will go on and have a healthy career on the small screen. I don't know that I'm as in love with the show but I'm happy it's not another hospital drama inhabited with spoiled brats. Even better, it has Ellen Greene.
As for playing Glinda on the big screen, that's not going to happen even if she becomes the biggest actress on the planet, which is highly unlikely to begin with.
