What Is Next For Sondheim?

Saw him speak last night at Lafayette College in PA. He told the audience that he is not writing music at all at the moment, as he is working on completing Look I Made a Hat, the second half of Finishing the Hat. He denied having any current projects other than this.

At the talkback, did Sondheim say anything about Streisand being his first choice for Nurse Apple?
Yes. He discussed how Fay was going to be Fay Cohen, but Streisand chose to do Funny Girl instead and the part was renamed Fay Apple for Lee Remick.

Bach was a replacement Riff-Raff, not Rocky. Unless he covered both roles. I saw him as Riff-Raff

I do think that her singing was shouty and her dancing could have been a little tighter, but I still enjoyed her performance.

I was there last night and I was deeply disappointed to see the understudy board that full, but the show went on and I enjoyed myself.
As several other posters have said, life goes on.

Heh... when they showed the preview during the first week of the show, I saw his chin (he was looking through binoculars) and went, "Hey! I think that's Michael Cerveris!" It is a very distinctive chin.

I just checked Michner's book (which I've owned forever and, admittedly, have never never gotten around to reading). Liat is described as being "around seventeen years old."
Bloody Mary is 55.
Nellie Forbush is 22.
I'm just skimming through and I haven't found exactly how old Cable is supposed to be, but he describes himself as still being a student at Princeton.
Of course, differences probably exist between the book and musical scripts.
