No, no, no, I don't mean she should play dramatic roles. I mean she should show depth in her comedic roles. Every single one is the same. It's quite possible to show emotional shading in a comedic performance.
alright... and I agree with you about being able to show depth in comedic roles... however I think she does so we'll have to disagree on that.
And seriously guys, I laughed out loud when I saw the whole "let's hope she chooses her next project better" discussion. Frankly I hope she gets better parts and soon and in better movies for her sake but really... do you honestly think she CHOSE to be in those movies? Lots of open parts for Broadway actors out there, right? Come on... they don't even get auditioned for musicals now!
Laura Linney and Kate Winslet said recently that they took a lot of awful parts in worse movies along the years just to work with someone or to get some attention.
I think Chenoweth took what she was offered, small parts in bad movies with big visibility, she got to work with big names and got her name on the screen of reviewers and producers. You can't fault her for trying to get her name out there... she's under 5', blonde, and nearly 40, with no name recognition whatsoever, I don't think she CHOSE between RV and Little Children or between Pink Panther and Little Miss Sunshine (although I think that kid stole the part from her! )... she took what she got.
She got mentioned in a positive light in MANY of the worst reviews of the year and she got her name out there... if a Razzie is the price to pay to get some more opportunities further down the road, I say GAME ON!
i would be soooo up for a theatrical version of the razzies! camp, tongue in cheek, ready for a bit of self depracation, i think its just what we could do brilliantly!

Mr. Bennett, I hope you were sarcastic when you said "Congratulations," because as a Cheno fan on this board, I think it's just plain ridiculous that she is even nominated.
First of all, while it is true that all the movies that she is nominated for got bad reviews, the critics did not have a single bad word to say about Kristin in RV or Deck the Halls. Plus the fact that she is nominated for Pink Panther is EQUALLY ridiculous because she is barely in that movie at all! That nod should've gone to Beyoncé because she's more well-known!!
And so, ever since the Razzies gave Dubya a Razzie for "acting," this is the worst nominating decision they ever made.
Oh, and on a sidenote, Mr. Bennett, you're an ass.
P.S. Read my lips: SHE AIN'T GONNA WIN!!
cooper, don't worry... more fodder for the Chenoweth haters... they'll jump at anything anyway...but please resume your Chenoweth bashing, it'll get even funnier when she's nominated for a Tony for Apple Tree... mmm... wonder how that'll make musical theatre look :p
If you're referring to my comment on how maybe she'll be more selective in choosing future film projects, I am actually a huge Kristin Chenoweth fan. I think she is a musical theatre legend in the making and I have walked away from every performance I've seen her in with a huge smile on my face. It doesn't take a "hater" to say that she should think twice before accepting an offer in Hollywood's next piece of crap in the making.
I do, however, find it more than a tad bit obnoxious when people refer to her as "Cheno" or "CHENO". If you want people to take your respect for a performer seriously, refer to the performer by their name. Otherwise, in the case of this actress, you come across as nothing but another WiCkEd fAn gUrL and you're essentially asking for people to not take what you're saying seriously.
Jasobres:
There is an old adage in Hollywood that says: "Any publicity is good publicity." The RAZZIES are a harmless, very tounge in cheek spoof of the Academy Awards. Nobody in the biz takes them seriously, and in fact a lot of major stars have "embraced" winning as a sort of acknowledgement that "yeah - sometimes we make ****ty movies - we're only human."
For Chenoweth to be singled out at all only indicates that she's had a memorable year in the movies. And so - yeah - ass or not - I do congratulate her - this only increases her profile as a Hollywood actress. And if she wins - I bet she'll be the first up there to accept the award.
And I agree with Foster - if you really are a fan, give Ms. Chenoweth some respect. CHENO sounds like something you take when you are having gas or women troubles.
jasobres, you are a tool.

I'm a fan of hers, and I think it's hilarious. And no, it won't kill her career, because no one saw those movies. Except my dad, who had to put up with Bewitched being the movie on every single cross-country flight he took for months on end.

I thought she cute in RV. But I agree with the "all publicity is good".
Her night at the met certainly wasn't a razzie nominating performance.
I think what this nomination goes to show is that Kristen Chenoworth (I spelled her name out for you Foster)is a musical theatre acress who belongs on the stage.
She hasn't yet mastered the fine art of nuance.

Stick to CHENO. At least you won't spell that wrong.
I would also like to register my congratulations. While I haven't seen any of the movies she made in 2006, I have been subjected to terrible movies out of my fondness for her. Any true Chenoweth fan should recognize this is just her karma for what she's put us through.
lol... you guys have got to learn to relax! Like Michael Bennett said (or do you prefer Beno? ), it's a publicity thing... how many Broadway actresses do you know who have been nominated for anything beside Tonys (I know... it SHOULD be all they need) and Daytime Emmys? That only shows that Kristin got noticed... in Hollywood... where it's not easy to get noticed when you are not 20 and blonde and dating a celebrity (well... she's not 20, is she?
)
That doesn't mean anything else... at ALL!
Foster, I was not referring to you as a 'hater'. I agree with what you're saying but I maintain that it's not necessarily a matter of choice.
and congrats, Jasobres, for resurrecting a 10 days dead thread to stir the thing again!

Ha. That kind of made my morning.
& I think it's funny how everyone's flipping out about this whole Razzie thing. It's not that big of deal people.

"Because she's a STAGE ACTRESS!!"
That's debatable. I've never noticed her acting in anything I've seen her in.
in my opinion, I think that is really mean to have awards for the worst. I really want to bitchslap those people.
I;m not mad at you guys, just them...
Okay. You go bitchsalp those people. Let me know how that works out for you.
Don't worry Audrey, I understand why you could be pissed off but you really shouldn't... I think you guys are missing the point of the Razzie... they are not trying to single out any particular actor but the whole industry. It's no coincidence that the nominations are announced at the same time as the Oscar's and the ceremony takes place the same day.
Hollywood is a place where there's a LOT of self congratulation going on... and on the night where the "industry" gives itself a big pat on the back for the great art they produce, the Razzies blows a big raspberry at them by showing them SOME of the biggest screwups of the year, most often commercial successes.
Kristin was in a number of the movies singled out this year and she took the fall for that, that's all... they don't even care what performance she gave! Like I said, Ben Kingsley? Hello? this guy would be great in Harry Potter! (oh wait, I'm not trying to make MORE enemies here! :p)
so just take it for what it is, a big 'reality check' for Hollywood from a crew of people who are not trying to be mean or offense but remind us that Hollywood is not all about Meryl Streep and American Beauty! :)

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve this nomination because I haven't seen the film she was nominated for. But, I can't take the Razzie's seriously because they overlook what has to be THE WORST movie of the last year. The movie Cheno was in was just a stupid comedy--harmless, silly, negligable. THE BLACK DAHLIA was an incoherent mess in which some good actors turned in dreadful performances (Hilary Swank and poor, poor Fiona Shaw)and starred one of the worst actors around (Josh Hartnett). Directed by a major (though in my opinion highly overrated) director (Brian De Palma) and destroyed what is a pretty good book by James Elroy. This movie should have won just on the basis of the Lesbian bar scene (in the book, as in gay life in the 40s) the bar should have been a seedy little joint, but in this movie it was a veritable Busby Berkeley number with kd Lang and some too healthy looking showgirls. Despite good cinematography and one very good (and luckily pretty much speechless) section, this movie was so bad that the false fire alarm that went off while we were watching it was a relief. It should win just for what they did to Fiona Shaw.

Oh, hell to the no!!!!!!!!
"Too bad there isn't a Broadway version of the Razzies..."
Oh yeah, Broadway really needs that. An excuse for bitchy theatre queens to hand out awards for their least favourite divas.
Ha.
I think she's great, she just happens to be in some of the sh*ttiest movies ever made.
She wasn't even supporting. She was just...there.
Who is this Chenoweth person? What else has she done? Is she a black or white actress like Halle Berry?
Sorry if this has been covered before but it's just that I like to know things, especially things lots of people are talking about. Endlessly.

I know that if that existed, In My Life would have done a sweep last year.
