re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?

I'm actually really liking the Conan O'Brien idea.

haha, it would never happen.

However, Conan can actually sing. He usually jokes around when ever he does it, but if he dropped the act and sang I am sure he would sound great.

Harry Connick Jr. turns everything into a Jazz number. If he refrained from doing this...I wouldn't mind.

But Donny Osmond...that's different. I kinda like it.

re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?

I like the suggestions of Osmond and O'Brian. Conan would be hilarious, I think.

I can also see David Hasselhoff working in the role.

re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?

donny - yes, ok.
david- the movie would be laughed at more than it already is getting.
Paul- not horrible, it would be something new for him and everyone else.
Steve- I dont think so. His look is all wrong.
Carson-?? Just because he is a talk show host does not make him a good candidate... can he act (aside from daria voiceovers) OR sing?

re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?

A Broadway name? Are you kidding?

Corny Collins is the one role where they can get away with casting ANYONE. Donald Trump could do this role and get away with it.

They aren't looking at Norbert Leo Butz. They are only seeing A-list and B-list Hollywood names. They would love to have a Regis Phiban or Ryan Seacrest or Dick Clark. But they would also love to have like a George Clooney do it and make a fool outta himself.

I'm interested in the Harry Connick Jr. idea.

Same Here, HCJ and Donny seem great.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

Harry Conick? I can totally picture that.

Did you guys all forget that Corny has to sing? And not just a little bit.

Conan????
Ryan Seacrest????
Regis?

*head slap*

Are you kidding?

Of course they could always CUT his songs or dub him... if that's really what you want.

re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?

I think they could easily cast Clarke Thorell or Troy Britton Johnson as Corny. They're relative unknowns to everyone outside of the Broadway microcosm, and even inside, those two aren't necessarily huge names. Both did fantastic on the separate occasions that I saw them perform, and I think bringing someone from the Broadway or tour cast wouldn't be too horrible, since Corny isn't necessarily a gigantic part.

Of course, I'm fine with Hugh or Donny. No problem there. re: Corny Collins in the new Hairspray movie?
