I'm working on an argumentative piece of writing and my topic is about people's opinions on musicals being corny vs musicals relating to real-world problems and being an art form.

You're trying to compare incomparable things: Some musicals ARE corny, some DO relate to real-world problems ---- but what has either of those things to do with it being an art form -- OF COURSE it's an art form, doesn't mean everyone's going to like it.

Okay, sure musicals are corny but in a good way. the fact that people spend so much of their time as other people singing their hearts out may seem corny to some people. But i LOVE all of those musicals and i love most musicals.
