From the video I saw of the NT Live broadcast, there were lots of lights and drawings on the stage floor. So, do you miss this if you sit in the orchestra for the Broadway production? For NT Live all seats were on the level of the stage or higher, but you would not be able to see the stage floor if you are sitting in the orchestra looking up at the stage, correct? Is it more effective to sit in the front mezzanine where you can see the stage floor?

I was seated in E2 MEZZ and thought mezzanine was great. Perhaps others can speak about the Orchestra view. What's drawn is pretty obvious, so I think either section is fine.
The character also draws on the walls quite a bit, so it's not like you're going to miss the point if you're close to the stage. I did front row orchestra and didn't feel I missed anything. Obviously, the angle is pretty severe from front orchestra, but you don't really miss anything. If you're concerned, then front mezz would be better for you.

I was just there last night seating in Row K center of the orchestra. Anything important that is drawn on the floor was projected onto the back wall. I saw everything with an unobstructed view. If you could get front mezzanine, the overhang is pretty close to the stage so I'm sure the view from there is great as well. I will say that this is a show that is best seen from the center - extreme sides might obstruct some of the action.

I sat front row of the center mezz and I was thinking the whole time that the people in the orchestra are missing so much because of the floor. It didn't seem like absolutely everything on the floor was projected onto the walls.

You're right that not everything was projected, but since what he draws is generally connected the what he is saying, I think people would get the right idea from just about any seat.
I've seen the show from different seats (center, side orchestra / front mezzanine) and the experience was the same to me from all angles.
I was dead center orch row H and at the time I was thinking that must just be about the best view in the whole place. I can't speak about the mez.

Sorry that this is a bit off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread. Possibly odd question for anyone who has seen the show. I have deliberately not read much about the plot, but know it involves the death of a dog. I'd like to see the show in July when I head to NY, but the person I am going with would not enjoy a show that dwells on or is graphic about the killing of a dog. Without getting into too much detail, is that going to be an issue with this show?

JPeterman, I sat center orchestra row h for a raisin in the sun and think it was one of the best seats I think I've ever been in!
Negator, you should be fine. The majority of the show's plot does center around the death of the dog, but from what I remember they do not describe it in detail or show any graphic images.

I sat in the front mezz A7. The dead dog is clearly visible on the stage floor at the start of the play, along with the implement of its death. But after that you only see it as a drawing, and as others have said the drawings on the floor are also projected on the upstage wall.
I have tickets for this Saturday matinee on the very side of the rear mezz. They were all that were available: hope I don't miss too much!

I was fascinated with the layout of the train he was building and the eventual path it was to take. I'm not sure how THAT was projected on the wall.
Maybe a minor point. But I was seated front row mezzanine and thought seeing the floor HAD to be a real bonus.
I was front row orchestra, and saw the train fine. I am 6 foot, though. Shorter people may differ on that point.
I wasn't talking about seeing the train itself. I was talking about seeing the layout of the route of the train as he added to it, skipped some, filled them in, etc. I can't imagine being able to see that from the front row of the orchestra.

I had one of those $27 last row dead-center mezz seats and could see everything just fine; it's not that large a theater. I'd say being central is more important than proximity to the stage for this production.
What *is* the overhang of the Mezzanine for this? I've only sat in the Orchestra for the Barrymore...
Having seen in London, I think the front part of the mezzanine is best vantage point. It really shows off the full composition and the technical aspects of the production. Tried to get tix very last minute tonight (NY) but was totally sold out.
I sat rear side mezzanine yesterday because they were the only seats I could get. Although not perfect, I still really enjoyed the show and didn't feel like I missed anything visually!
how's the balcony? is it too high up for a play or will you still get a decent view?
Is there a balcony? i thought it was just a mezz- I sat on the top floor and the view was fine.
