Has anybody been recently or heard from anyone who has? I'm planning on buying tickets for this Saturday and just wanted to know if it would be worth it. I love the show and will probably see it anyway, but it would be nice to know the cast isn't disappointing.

Posted: 11/5/09 at 10:55pmI saw the show fairly recently and it was in pristine shape. The director, Tom Jones, encourages the cast to bring their own perspectives to their roles (while staying within a certain framework). As a result, the show stays fresh; especially since there are frequent cast changes.

Posted: 11/5/09 at 10:57pmThe actress who is just stepping into the role of Luisa is a really exceptionally talented young actress / singer from Dallas named Kimberly Whalen. She's fabulous.

Posted: 11/5/09 at 10:59pmApparently there's a different Luisa than the last time I saw it, but I went about a month and a half ago and they were in excellent shape...I've seen the show many times and have never seen a bad cast.

My good friend, Kim Whalen, is stepping into the role of Luisa next week and she is simply amazing. I am so proud of her!
Michael Bennett...how do you know of Kim?

Saw it October 3 - It felt fresh and alive. Lewis Cleale is a terrific, strong-voiced El Gallo. I saw Jonathan Schwartz and Addie McDaniel ans Matt and Luisa but when I interviewed them Jonathan said he would be leaving the show soon to concentrate on his final year at Princeton. Didn't hear about Addie leaving the show.
Even it plays beautifully in that space, and still has plenty of sparkle.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 11/6/09 at 2:15pmYes, Nick re-joined the cast just after FANTASY FOOTBALL closed. He'll be with the show through the holidays. (But wouldn't he be an excellent choice for the new Tony in WSS?)
