Phan24 thanks for posting the info about Cynthia being back on June 19th. I see this now in her Twitter too. I am in nyc for the weekend which included TCP tickets for tonight, I bought them before I knew about Cynthia's time away. I saw TCP in May with Cynthia and Heather Headley. Cynthia gave a performance I will never forget I am going to try to get tickets for Sunday. Telecharge is down right now. Went ahead with seeing the show tonight and it was fantastic.  Bre Jackson as Celie, Carrie Compere as Sofia, Heather Headley and the entire company went to church. Bre had some big shoes to fill but she did not disappoint.

Do anyone go to her first post-Tony win show today?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I was there this afternoon. Thought the crowd was energetic for a Sunday matinee but it didn't seem like the majority sitting around me realized this was her first show back. We specifically waited until today to see it. Standing O following "I'm Here" and I assume this is the norm. That number sealed the Tony for her. She absolutely killed it. Danielle was out but her understudy was wonderful. Also I have to say that Heather would have potentially given Renee a run for her money had she originated the role of Shug. Her acting in this show is just incredible. So glad we did not miss this production

I was at the Sunday matinee. For me, I sensed a heightened excitement, compared to the one time I saw the show with Cynthia before. Some differences from my experience at the previous show: The audience applauded when Cynthia came onstage. (This also happened on Sunday with other performer entrances.) There was a more extended standing ovation at the end of the show. Cynthia’s performance was different at certain moments throughout the show. One such moment was at the beginning of “I’m Here.” Before she starting singing, there were tears streaming down her face. The first few 30 seconds or so, she was singing through her tears. The strong emotion was there, but her voice did not waver. When she moved to and faced the back of the stage during the early part of the song, I felt she took a few more moments there than she did last time. I think she wanted to take a deep breath. There was another moment in the last show I saw when she had a tear streaming down her face, On Sunday, at the same point, there was a steady stream and Cynthia took a moment to wipe her eyes at the end of the song. I have only the one other live performance to compare it to and what I experienced may be just the variation from show to show, but to me Cynthia's performance and the show felt special, that umami quality. Those who are performers will be better able to explain this.
