Jane Krakowski as Amneris surely?

Jane Krakowski is nearing fifty and her voice is not as strong as it once was. I can't imagine any scenario where she would be considered appropriate for Amneris at this stage of her career.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Speaking of AIDA, Pittsburgh CLO is performing it July 26-31.  They oddly have not yet made any casting announcements in emails or on their website for any of their productions this summer.

However, a brochure I received in the mail lists Emmy Raver-Lampman as Aida (never heard of her, but they're heavily pushing the fact that she's an original cast member of HAMILTON), and Mark Evans as Radames. No mention of who's playing Amneris.

Very surprised by Mark Evans... seems rather random that he'd turn up in a locally-produced Pittsburgh CLO production with a one-week run.

The CLO's "stars" are always the absolute most random people.

Sidebar though, I do feel like it's my duty to go see James Snyder sing "Younger Than Springtime" in SOUTH PACIFIC.

If anyone is interested in seeing Cynthia give a fantastic performance in a different show then the Digital Theatre website has the Soho Theatre premiere production of "Lift" by new musical theatre writers Craig Adams and Ian Watson.

It's a one act piece, (about 90mins long) with a fantastic cast who were mostly all at the start of some very promising careers in 2013. And Cynthia's solo number is/was a highlight. Though there were many. I saw it 3 times live so I hope the occasional wonky camera work still does the production justice for new audiences.

That's what amuses me. The average theatergoers have no idea who these people are, and I'm sitting there thinking "What the heck is _____________ doing here?"

Yes, in addition to AIDA, I do plan on seeing SOUTH PACIFIC. That's an interesting principal lineup. The other shows don't really excite me enough to make the drive down to Pittsburgh.
