During the color purple performances this past week, people have been reporting that Cynthia has been cracking on her G5 in I'm here lately. Not to worry Cynthia or to cause judgement towards her. But I just wanted to hear if anyone else had any stories regarding this. If you need proof there is an audio from August 2nd where the poster purposely removed the note from the video. I'm just interested in hearing if she has resolved her vocal strain. Knowing that it's not a big deal, I still have a weird obsession with monitoring that specific G5 and seeing how every person out there hits the note whether in chest or head or an octave down. This is probably a weird post but regardless let me know.

Saw her July 20 and her voice was the clearest and most powerful I've ever heard it. It was unbelievable how strong she sounded.
sounded like the audio was a little poor. wouldn't judge anything by this. Cynthia knows if she's not 100% to take time off.
I actually saw her while she was sick and she didn't sound strained at all. Her singing sounds very healthy actually.
That's great! I'm glad it's nothing serious.
Sometimes singers just crack. Could be any number of reasons.
I was at the performance on August 2nd...and Ms.Erivo could not have sounded better. Anyone who can get on stage and do that 8 times a week should recieve no judgment for strain or cracking.

She's amazing.
Someone who rarely sung a score perfectly was Tonya Pinkins in CAROLINE, OR CHANGE. I saw her in the show 4 separate times and she ALWAYS modulated her voice/notes during difficult sections. Always singing an intended high note in a lower key. Screaming a note was never a problem, though.

" I have to say, at first I wasn't a fan of her imperfect singing, but it became the character for me. Caroline was a tired maid. Tired from work and life and I think Tonya Pinkins' roughness worked in her favor.
