DAMES AT SEA or THE COLOR PURPLE?

Hey guys,

I'm coming up to see FIDDLER ON THE ROOF the night before Thanksgiving (Wednesday 11/25), but I have room for a matinee that day. I'm looking at both DAMES or PURPLE to fill that 2:00 slot and I was wondering what your opinions were in terms of:

1) Enjoyment/Recommendation of the show
2) Rush timing (Lottery? What time I should arrive? Etc.)

I have only seen Dames At Sea, so I can't help you with The Color Purple. Dames At Sea is a very lighthearted show with some great dancing. There isn't much depth and it's borderline camp, but it's a fun night in the theater! Obviously The Color Purple is the stark opposite...so it just depends on what you want to watch!

For Dames rush, I think I showed up at 9:45 and I was the third person in line. Their rush hasn't been very busy at all, so I would plan on getting there right before 10.

I've seen and enjoyed both, and I recommend Color Purple, Color Purple, Color Purple! No contest. Dames is like eating cotton candy. It's fun to do and sometimes you're in the mood for it. But Purple is a sumptuous feast featuring a magnificent performance from Cynthia Erivo. Rush may be a bit hard though. People start lining up at 6 am on Saturday. Maybe during the week is easier.
