Proceeds go to benefit Wendy Wasserstein's TDF/Open Doors program. Open Doors is the Theatre Development Fund's theatre arts mentoring program for high school students, and was started in 1998 by TDF with playwright Wendy Wasserstein. Its goal is to explore the relevance of theatre in the lives of today's youth.

Dear people who do casting for DQYNJ:

Please get Mario Lopez for the next show. Doing something that does not involve him wearing a shirt.

Thank you.

My vote is for Mario Lopez vs Cheyenne Jackson- Hotter star on bway. Make them do the usual showbiz showdown stuff, but include some pushups, posing for the mags without a shirt, etc.

(sorry Mario and Cheyenne!)

(sorry Mario and Cheyenne!)

please, why be sorry, I like when you bring the shallow! :)

Eug- you mean the audience like the stars in the audience? Or the audience like... us? I think everyone I know is going to be there- seriously without trying I can name 15-20 people easy I know who will be there, and that's not even counting BWW people I 'know' but have never technically met who I know will be there. Wow that was a long sentence.

As long as my flight gets in on time, I'll be there, with I think all of my roommates (there are 5 of them). Can't wait!

It was a lot of fun, but it's the first time I've ever gone to DQYNJ so I don't have much to compare it to.

No suprise guests, Groff did MadLib musical to Totally Fu**ked (can we write that here?) It was funny but not great. Right now everything else was a blur. I'll try to edit and add more details when I get some sleep.

For improve it was good...but I've seen LOTS better. But again, it was a fun crowd and a fun night. Would I rush back again based on this performance? Not unless I was terriblly impressed with line up.

(I have to say, I got stuck WAY over to one side and DEFINITELY could not hear everything...so that could have altered my opinion as well.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Funny! Sold out with lots of people turned away. Buy tickets in advance, people!!!!

Highlights for me included Shockwave- Lin Manuel's improv with audience suggested lines, Noah Galvin (a kid- Stars of Tomorrow) singing Rose's Turn from Gypsy, Jonathon Groff's "Totally F*cked" madlib, Blind Dating with the horn buzzers, Julie White's backstage anecdote about Meryl Streep, the NY2 segments (Fried Chicken!!!!!). We also saw a great opening number about Jews on the Upper East Side a la In The Heights, Eulogy of Puff the Magic Dragon, Celebrity Symphony.

Noah Galvin doing "Rose's Turn" was one of the greatest things I have ever seen in my life. He kicked so much ass.

Noah Galvin was clearly the highlight of the night. Julie White was wonderful as always. Jon Groff was actively bad. Not only was the madlib not funny, but he was also completely flat the entire song. They should have chosen a different song for him.

Dear DQYNJ:
Please rebook Andrea Burns for next month first. And then you can give Liotte her shirtless Mario and Cheyenne showdown. Thank you.

I love when Sandy Rustin is doing the show and she wasn't on the press release!

Noah Galvin, as everyone's already said, rocked "Rose's Turn" from Gypsy.

Julie White- why do you have to be so awesome? I loved getting a Wendy Wasserstein story!

"My favorite part was when LaChanze fell."
"We're black, and we're singing..."
"FRIED CHICKEN!"
oh NY2, you are always great for the one liners that will keep people I know in Facebook statuses for the next 24 hours.

dramamama- I feel you on the sound issue, there really are some times when I wish they were miked, ie the opening number tonight. Great In the Heights spoof, but I was sitting in the second row and I missed chunks of it, I can't even imagine what that sounded like from the sides of the room.

edit because:
1- I spell good, and
2- bjh2114, I have to agree, Groff's madlib was not as fun as most of the others have been. I don't know that I would say "actively bad," perhaps it was the song choice, but it just wasn't that fun to listen to, and there was a point where I found myself looking at him in his little baseball cap and flip flop shoes and thinking "don't look in his eyes, you'll be taken in, you'll be breakin in..." in my head.

Not as hilarious as last time, but great all the same. Was glad to get in through a friend that had to leave early - saw many people, especially Broadway actors friends of those in the show, turned away.

Noah Galvin was absolutely AMAZING. I love that kid. The NY2 segments were hilarious. I really didn't like the Madlibs this time. And I was so glad to see the return of the blind date skit.

Did anyone else feel like most of the people in the audience had never seen the show before? I felt like I'd never seen half the people, when these are usually full of people I know or recognize.

I had NO IDEA who most of the people in the audience were, and I usually know at least 75% of the crowd there. I have no clue where they came from, glad that there are new fans of the show and it continues to grow!!

*shrug* I recognized little Spring Awakening and Heights cliques (and as a Heights fangirl I can say that :)), so I wasn't surprised that there were a lot of people new to DQ there tonight.

May's is the 29th, right?

Speaking of IN THE HEIGHTS cliques, the girl who kept screaming out "Mandy Gonzales" during Lin & Shockwave's skit was incredibly annoying. Wasn't happy when she was picked for the blind date, but at least she stayed quiet. I didn't recognize any SPRING AWAKENING cliques, other than about three fourths of the cast sitting on the right side of the theater.

May's is the 29th! It's so far away, but I'm excited.

lol, annoying drunk people (sorry if you weren't drunk, annoying Mandy Gonzalez girl, I just assumed you were) are all a part of improv shows, I feel... whoever was doing the annoying *whistling* during the first part of Julie White's story was my personal unfavorite.

I'm still really excited, in a weird way, for the DQ kids that they had to turn people away tonight, good for them!

Oh and thank you to whoever put in "shut your brassy magnificint trap, Patti LuPone!" for the Line! improv- one of my fav W&G lines ever!!

I don't think she was drunk.

Lin Manuel's improv rap was a highlight.

Loved Lin-Man and Shockwave. Wasn't there a concert a couple of months back that was called "Reads the Phone Book," or something to that effect? I would legit pay money to listen to Lin-Man rap the phone book.

"Play me some 'Out of Africa'...ok, that's not it." Hee.
