in no way surprising. I'be veen waiting for these two announcements for a while now....

I hope good shows book the broadway and belasco.

Yes, Denzel doing Shakespeare is going into the Belasco.. it should be a treat, but we shall see.. one never knows.... things that look good on ppaer can turn out awful.. I REALLY hope that Denzel's show turns out wonderfully.

denzel is a classically trained actor, so I'm also hoping the turns out to be good. Other than that, he is such a gifted actor, and hope his show does well!

well I'd say 2005 is looking like a better year already. I just hope Chuck gets to go on as Dracula once before it closes.

This is not a response to the original post but to those who apparently are just so much further advanced and cultured than everyone else. If you don't like a show, don't go, it's that simple, but don't be a little child and insult it because it didn't suit your taste or you don't think it's good theater.

I am still CRYING!

Well, I watched that on a TV show - about the Belasco being haunted by someone who died upstairs or something!

That's why Dracula was so perfect for that theatre, or, better yet, why that theatre was so perfect for Dracula!

I'm obviously not thrilled they're shuttering (I don't wish any of the cast and crew out of a job) but they're all so talented and those productions just need to leave. I'm sure they can quickly sign themselves onto better projects.
