I keep listening to her (and Norbert) singing "Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True". What a wonderful recording!
i LOVE this OCR! definitely one of my most listened to! they sing so well together!
I'm not a fan of this score but I think this is some of Sherie's best vocal work.
My only problem is that her voice falters on the last note in "Here I Am", I know she could sustain that note much better than that.
Maybe she was directed to sing it that way?
Well, she's always had that slight problem where even though she sounds great it often seems like her voice is just about to crack and you're kind of just waiting for it. Still, I think she did some really strong vocal work in this show.
I think she hold it fine - I think her voice has that tense sound.
Umm. Her voice definetly falters at one point of the note, you have to listen closely to hear it.
Oh, I think she does that in the show on purpose.
i love sherie and this recording sounds fantastic - way to go sh-k-boom!
ljay, I hear it too -- and it annoys me. But overall, she does a great job so I can't fault her too much.
I can hear it, too, but her voice, IMO, tends to sound much tenser on recordings than what I experienced live when I saw her in DRS. In person, every note sounded so spot-on and so effortless that, even though I had heard her before on the Aida and L5Y recordings, I was absolutely blown away.

That "falter" is supposed to be there. If you watch the rehearsal footage on Broadway.com where she performs "Here I Am," she straight-tones the last note, her vibrato kicks in, and then she scoops down to a lower note to finish the song. On the recording it does sound like she chickened out and decided not to finish, but it's because of the ensemble drowning her out. But like I said, watch the footage, the ensemble isn't loud in the video, and she does the exact same thing there.

Some of Sherie's best vocal work? That is crazy. Maybe if the writing showed off her voice. You wanna hear her sing put Aida or The Last Five Years in your CD Player....I love Sherie!!!!
I love Sherie in Aida. Her voice is so natural and powerful at the same time.
I love Sherie but I think she has more vocal strength in this show...but trust me, it's not a tribute to the score :0)
I loved her in the ninja turtles tour. her hair just looked so stunning back then... put Annie's to shame...
I think her voice, speaking and singing, has so much comic character. I love listening to her spoken parts on the Debbie Does Dallas recording.
