I'd love to see him try it out.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

It could work but by then Norbert will be gone. Who would replace him? I'd say Adam Pascal since they seem to replace each other alot (Rent and Cabarnet for example)

It would be really interesting to see what kind of comedic skills Pascal has. Personally it's hard for me to picture him in that role, but I guess you never know.
I've always thought Charles Shaughnessy would make a great Lawrence.

Wasn't John O'Hurley mentioned as a possible Lithgow replacement at one point? Or was that just rumor? That's an interesting possibility as well.

Funny you should mention John O'Hurley. John Lithgow's current standby, Denis Farloto, reminded me ALOT like Mr. Peterman when I saw him. I feel he would work very well.

Johnathan Pryce is replacing John Lithgow, which personally I wish I could see, not sure who could replace Norbert though (as much as I love Adam Pascal I'm not sure if he'd suit the role, though he could have hidden comic talents we don't know about!)
Anyone have any ideas on a Christine replacment though? (I saw sherie's understudy last week and it's a shame the role wont go directly to her)

Rachel should be interesting to see in the role... I've only seen her in dramas on stage, however, I can admit to watching the Lucy movie on TV, and she has great comedic timing as well... so I wish her luck, I'm sure she'll be great...

Emilia,
Rachel York is replacing Sherie Rene Scott as Christine from Feb. 7 through June 18. She'll be GREAT, I'm sure. Her comic roles in City of Angels, Victor/Victoria, Kiss Me, Kate and Sly Fox were standouts. In fact, until recently, she had been better known for her comedy than her dramatic work.

Norbert Leo Butz and Adam Pascal never replaced each other in Cabaret.
Norbert was the Emcee on the National Tour in 1998. Adam played the role on Broadway in late 2003-early 2004 when the show closed.
I think the ideal replacement for Norbert would be Hunter Foster.
For Christine, I'd love to see Lauren Kennedy.

I'd like to see Christine Ebersole replace Joanna. I think Hunter Foster might be funny replacing Norbert. James Naughton might be good as a replacement for Lithgow.

I'd never say never on Adam, but I'd doubt it. However, he's surprised us before...

As much as I love Hunter, I just cannot see him in DRS replacing NLB

Ah thanks for the sherie replacment info (funny how actually being on holiday in NY gets you out of the BW info loop lol!)
While we're talking DRS casting anyone know how long Greg Jbara is contracted for? (Though due to my total adoration of that man I wish he would stay forever lol!)

I still think Debrah Messing would be a hilarious Christine...however Ive only heard her sing bad on the show- I dont know if she can really sing.
I think Chris Fitzgerald and Matt Caplan could maybe work as Freddy.
Too bad Kelsey wont do the show- i always picture him as Lawrence when i watch Frasier

I can totally see Raul Esparza as Freddy.

i think greg jbara should graduate up to playing lawrence. Harriet Harris as Muriel would be a scream, Oh and I would relally like to play lawrence or freddy

Greg, and I'm pretty sure Norbert as well though not 100% positive are now contracted through July 23.
And while I adore Adam and would love to see him back on the stage, I really can't see him as Freddy. I mean if you've seen the Rent movie...I always laugh during La Vie Boheme b/c...Adam...can't...dance. I cannot see him doing Great Big Stuff or rolling around on the floor or anything like that. I mean, the show would still be a comedy...but a tad more laughing at than with.
I think Joe Cassidy is wonderful in the role and would love to see him take it over, but they may want to actually replace Norbert w/ a more established actor.
And don't forget I've been thinking in addition to the bway replacements, DRS is gonna tour soon--will be interesting to see who's casted on the tour.

Adam Pascal has no talent.
He would ruin the show.

"Adam Pascal has no talent."
Oh, you're quite right 442. Seriously what an awful singer..I think Britney Spears has more talent and a better voice, I would much rather hear her sing One Song Glory any day. *sigh*
We agree he's not right for the role, but it's just obnoxious and unnecessary to completely diss him in all aspects. As much as we criticize performers on here, I think it's very rare someone goes so far to say that one has no talent...that's just rude.

Debra Messing actually can sing, all of the W&G cast can. Debra sang 'Don't Rain on my Parade' back in the day on Rosie. It was fierce.
I agree, she'd be hilarious as Christine.
However about Jennifer Laura Thompson as Christine? I dunno why, but she could do it.

If they wanted to do stunt casting, I could see Jack Black replacing Norbert, but I don't know if he can sing.

Thats what I meant Patronus. I was a bit unclear. They both played the same role. Has Adam Pascal ever done comedy?
