i*heart*singer, you do realize that Jack Black is better known for being a singer than an actor? He was doing Tenacious D before he got into film.
Not knowing too much about him (I'd heard a song or two, but that was about it) I saw him in a free concert at San Diego Comic-Con last year, and I was blown away at what fantastic stage presence he has, while still actually being a good singer (besides their normal fare, they did covers of some Queen and Who's Tommy songs).
I could actually see him doing a FANTASTIC job as Freddy. He can handle the part vocally, and I can imagine him just rocking out and having a blast with the character. His Great Big Stuff would be AMAZING.

I think EVERYONE has had the Jack Black idea, since sometimes it almost seems like Norbert is doing a Jack Black impression.
I think he would OWN the role. I would also love to see Hunter in role.
